The part of the pipe that goes in the fender should go in about 2 inches. If you look at the factory part that goes in it you'll see

Yeah, did the mod and I really don't notice a difference either.

Default Gott's Mod- 'No noticeable difference'

I have been reading the posts from guys stating the Gott's mod made no difference. Speaking from experience, this mod is worth it's weight in gold! This will be most noticeable when installing a dual exhaust. Remember guys, you can't just increase airflow 'in' and expect a difference. You must also assist with a better run 'out'. I can say that down low there doesn't seem to be a huge diff. It's at mid to wide open throttle that I can really feel this mod in the seat of my pants.

Just my 2 cents.

Current truck 2004 XLT has the 4.6 and dual Magnaflow with Gotts mod...I "feel" the mod did not gain anything throughout the rpm range nor gas improvement.

old truck 2004 FX had the 5.4 and dual Borla exhaust with AFE intake...just louder noise at higher RPM range. I acually thought I lost low end torque and gas I have no idea.

Maybe I might be able to tell a difference if my trucks had stock sized tires. Running 35" MT now and 33" MT on the old truck

Good points from 86capman...an engine can be refered to as a large air pump. Get more air out, and you can get more air in (and vice versa). This can also relate to making HP and TQ gains. Add to it a tune, and the three mods compliment each other and offer the best gains.

Since the gotts mod did not do anything for you with your exhaust mods, you must feel great that you did not waste any money on an aftermarket CAI purchase!

Bucko...I spend money on my truck regardless! It's a disease that I don't mind whatsoever. I just love constantly doing things to it whether its for appearance, performance, sound, etc. Just love these trucks!

I did the gotts mod today. All I've done is back it out of the garage so im not sure what it will do. All I did was change out the end with 3" pvc and a clamp. Hope this works. Here is a pic.
