Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Hi iRub1Out,

Try hitting the MENU button on your dash, then use the tuner **** to scroll over to the SOURCE option. Hit the OK button, then you should be able to scroll through again to the BLUETOOTH AUDIO media channel.

This is absolutely maddening. Every morning I get in my truck and scream at it first thing:

"Bluetooth Audio"

... silence

Hit button again.
"BLUETOOTH AUDIO!"

...silence

Reboot unit.

"Bluetooth AUDIO DANGIT" (I don't say dangit)
... ((lists commands))

Oh, I shouldn't cuss at it.

"BLUETOOTH AUDIO"

And it finally works.....

Extremely annoying. And of course, I get to repeat this process (sometimes with the reboot, sometimes not) 4 to 10 times per day.

PLEASE FIX THIS, FORD!

I have a 2013 Shelby that does the same thing. I went on a trip with my grandson last summer and when we got in the car I would hit the button and say BT audio. After the third time we got in the car I hit the button and before I could say it my grandson says BT audio is that right Papa to hear the music. He was 6 at the time. It really is aggravating have to do that in my Shelby (now it looks like the truck I am looking at getting) and my wife in her Jeep Wrangler hops in and it just works. I guess the difference is Jeep is not using Micro Crap or a Soft and Ford is.

I have been reading on the Explorerforum and a few others this is a big problem, so it is not just with the trucks it seems the entire platform is?

They don't want to "fix" it. They want you to buy a NEW truck !

FordIVTteam, pass it along, that it is FORD's lack of customer support for their three to four year old vehicles that that hurts repeat sales.

I have a feeling that Ford's IT system engineers are busy working the fixes & bugs on the 2015 & 2016 models and couldn't give a chit about the 2010 - 2013 product.

I concur.

They got your money for it, as far as sync is concerned they've fulfilled their obligation to you.

Which is crap.

I have complained to the dealer, called Ford, emailed Ford and contacted the people from the IVT Team present in this forum. The latest advice is to visit this web site to provide your feedback because it is the engineering dept. rather than the IVT Team which deals with such things. C'mon man! How do you spell run-around?

Vote for this fix on Ford's web site. Tell them what you think. It can't hurt!

My truck says its version is current, which is pathetically old, it was updated in MAY of 2012, the month my truck was built.

Even more pathetic is that Sync says that I have the most updated version...

Really!?

Thanks Crank, but I'm not registering on another FORD website. The only thing that will come from that is more spam, more mass media sales BS, and ZERO attention from FORD on the issue.
FORD is right here ! If they really wanted owner input on issues that mattered, they would truly participate in every ford related forums like this (there must be 100+, i.e. Truck, Mustang, Focus, etc) and there would be a micro department that round tabled these customer concerns and reported to engineering. How do you make a better product by relying in service manager input. LISTEN, truly listen to the customer !

Can you imagine if development actually read "best mods under $50", or some of the lighting threads. I think Ford is stuck in their own bubble and want doesn't listen to anyone but themselves. They need to stop trying to reverse engineer Toyota.
Don't get me wrong, I really like my SCrew, but don't quit after the sale, be the BEST truck Co again.

It's pretty crazy to think that I just bought my truck in October and Ford is already disinterested in supporting it.

They really ought to let someone else take over maintaining that. It would cost them virtually nothing in the grand scheme of things, and this is the sort of "small" thing that customers remember when they go to buy another vehicle, and someone else is integrating Android and iOS right into the dash.

The fact of the matter is that with few exceptions, most vehicles built now are really, really good. You don't have to do much work on them for at least 100,000 miles, unless you get a lemon. So user experience and taste becomes critically important.
