Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio
Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?
Are you sure you're up to date? Track info was something that was added in the 4.4 update within the last couple months. I feel like it's more likely that your radio isn't up to date than it is your phone isn't compatible.
Probably not. I downloaded the update from Ford and put it on a Fat32 USB stick and it just said no media files found or something similar. I'll have to try it again with a different flash drive.
I had the same issue. Followed online instructions exact. Brought it to dealer half hour later it was updated, no issues yet, and shows track info while streaming (even with waze in background on my phone)
Was yours under warranty when you brought it in? I don't have a warranty anymore since it's a 2011 and probably not worth paying them to update it.
I tried again with another USB stick and even downloaded the update again. Same thing, didn't work. I work in the I.T. field, so know I'm following the procedure correctly. To get it to install:
aux line in > menu > Sync - Media > System Settings > Advanced > Install Application
I reported the error to one of the Ford reps on here. They told me they'd be updating the install instructions. But try those steps and see if that helps your install.
So here's the kicker. We all kinda went through this awhile back when we were installing it. I assumed Ford updated their instructions. Maybe they didn't. Here's what I found when doing the install on my 14 XLT with the 4.2" non-touch screen.
To get it to install:
aux line in > menu > Sync - Media > System Settings > Advanced > Install Application

I am using Poweramp as my media player. I'll have to try using the droid media player to see if that makes a difference.
Thanks for posting, I was able to install it using these instructions! However, it still doesn't show the song info. It only shows 'bluetooth media' on the screen.

Not sure on the media player part. I don't have an android phone. I'd definitely try the original media player that came with the phone. Or maybe pandora or something to see if it's working. I know on my phone the track information comes over from the default media player and others like my podcast app, pandora, and things like that. It may just depend on the app.
You're welcome. I'm glad it's working for you. I'm really disappointed that Ford hasn't updated the instructions yet.
