Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio
Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?
No I read all 18 pages of it.... and it still wouldn't surprise me if a lot of issues aren't end user based. Seems to be inconsistent enough that its tough to believe all fault lies solely in the software. Crankbait, yours probably very well is screwed somehow... but that doesn't account for everyone. I work daily with lots of people that claim varying levels of "tech savvy".... yet when they have a computer based issue they immediately run to me and ask me to look into it... and 9 times out of 10 a simple restart fixes the issue. I ask sometimes if they call tech support at home when their PC freezes... all to someone who supposedly builds their own computers..... My point..... I take very little faith in other peoples frustration. And usually its someone different with a different machine with essentially the same problem thus showing a pattern.... yet there really is no pattern beyond the end result..... Yes I do enjoy my system... and hopefully they resolve yours. Maybe it is a time for a change in manufacturers for you.... but regardless of the one you choose you will still find blatant ignorance and stupidity... well at least I have. I refuse to take my vehicles to the dealer for anything... even warranty... its more hassle than its worth. Hearing that "its normal" or "cant replicate condition" got really old really fast. You can't fix this problem yourselves though so I wish you all luck.
How in the world is this an "end user problem"? There literally is no other method of accessing bluetooth audio other than voice command or by navigating through a menu. That's the issue everyone is complaining about. All we want is an option to set bluetooth audio as the default sync source when you start the truck.
And as far as not being "tech savvy", get me access to the code and I'll write it in myself. Ford doesn't seem to give a **** considering there's a 20 page thread complaining about it on one of the largest f150 forums on the web. Hell, there's even a ford rep in this thread who hasn't even mentioned passing the idea up the ladder.
If anyone can point me in the direction of the old sync firmware, I'll do a writeup on how to roll back the new, terrible version to the old one where it could still default to bluetooth.
But hey, what do I know... I'm just an electrical/computer engineer.

Not really.... you are complaining about that.... the thread is riddled with phone connectivity issues beyond Bluetooth audio. I read more than just your posts... and hence why I mentioned Crankbaits issue who mirrors your own. I could likely rewrite the code too for what its worth.... Please.... your credentials don't mean anything in this thread. If it bothers you bad enough ditch the truck.... no more issues. But maybe if you guys go far enough beyond the forum to Ford it will do something.... probably not but miracles happen.
Title of the thread is "Can sync default to bluetooth audio". Not "my phone has connection issues". It's stupid to ditch a truck over such a minor issue. As soon as I get some free time I plan on getting into the can bus and sending custom messages to make it default to bluetooth myself amongst many other things.
Yeah but it makes me feel like an internet badass so why not.

Got a long list of things ahead of that though.
You would think a $50000 vehicle would be supported by the ford team for longer than a year, but It's been made obvious that's not the case.
That's probably what I'll end up doing once I can free up some time. Then I can live among the f150forum legends. :sarcasm:

Spoken like a person who just finished bragging on his own creds...

Ditching the truck is what I plan to do. As stated, after driving Fords for most of my adult life, I am now a former Ford customer who is also a walking/talking billboard advertisement as to what a ****ty experience it is to deal with Ford and their dealers. As stated earlier, Mike Rowe is a liar.I will be making some videos which show the nonsense that is Sync and compare it to technology available in other vehicles.
I have already convinced three people to purchase non-Ford vehicles; two shiny new GMCs and a Toyota Tundra have been purchased instead of F-Series trucks thanks largely to me. I even referred the guy who bought the Tundra to the salesman who sold us our Toyota mini-van/kid-hauler. I hope all you people who are dissatisfied with Ford vehicles will likewise tell everyone you know that you are unhappy. Tell EVERYONE!!!
My next truck will likely be a Toyota Tundra. My neighbor's Tundra is a sweet ride and the bluetooth media interface works properly. Woulda, shoulda, coulda... I'm still looking for a car for my kid but a Ford is not being considered.
All this over the
radio and the inept handling of customer complaints by Ford and the dealer.Hey Ford!
