Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Correct, it does - what is does not do, at least on many versions, is select BT as the input device, instead, defaulting to line-in every time you start it.

Has anyone tried to modify the ACM with Forscan to change the default from aux to Bluetooth? I just ordered a Forscan cable to calibrate my backup camera and I was wondering if I might be able to use it to change the default as well.

I kind of doubt it since this thread is almost 100 pages long but figured I'd ask.

thanks!

Just FYI, I checked out the ACM using Forscan but didn't proceed because of the warning. Didn't want to risk messing it up. Gotta wonder though, if the default setting to change from Aux to bluetooth is in there somewhere...

So is this effort dead? any forscan updates for this? Or downgradable file versions that support this?

Nothing i've seen, it's more related to the sync software, which is outside of the rest of the system AFAIK.

So I have been super PO'd about "Please say a command" ever since I bought my used 2013. I had a Pioneer DEH-6700BS (prettty cheap unit) in my old Ranger that would hook up to my phone every time at the point of the song.

Anyway, I got to fooling around with the "Voice" button by pushing on the right side of it and saw that the radio gives you choices for input. I thought if I specifically chose BT or SYNC or whatever it is called, and then turned the truck off that it would reconnect. Before I had just pushed on the left side of the button to yell at SYNC. Well, guess what? After restarting the truck it started playing off my phone at the particular song without any input from me.
Then I turned the truck off and removed the key and walked away then returned and tried it again and BT wouldn't start. I then tried several other different ways to make the setting stick in the radio and was successful a couple of other times but doing different ways to establish I wanted line in and BT like it was when I killed the truck.

So various methods of poking around worked but it never "takes" more than one restart so far. This leads me to believe the module or radio is clearly capable of reconnecting "sometimes".
I thought it might be not removing the key from the ignition but that's not it in my case anyway. Just turning the truck off or removing the key entirely gives the same wonky results.

This has probably come up before but I didn't want to read like 100 pages to find out.

Galaxy A52 5G

Radio is the one with CD, no screen, lotta buttons.

Based on this I would say ForScan can't fix it because with certain actions mine does work properly.

Also, sometimes SYNC drops the BT connection completely for some reason if that matters here.

Here we are 12+ years later and Ford still can’t figure out anything with Sync. Sync 1 victim here.

my recently bought 2011 was on the original firmware until about 2 weeks ago. It defaulted to last input selected. So Bluetooth. Atrocious call audio, Sync couldn’t understand English and generally sucked.

updated to the latest firmware. Fixed the horrible call audio. Somewhat. Sync still can’t process verbal commands. And it now defaults to Line In.

what were the engineered idiots at Ford thinking? Verbal commands don’t work. Forcing drivers to press through several screens on the NAV screen to shift it into BT input. While driving. Seems completely safe. Totally not a danger

wish I’d known about this “helpful” aspect of the upgrade prior to

I think there is a way to learn your voice, you can look thru the menus.
