Good to know, thanks. I hope the police around here are good with that. Along those lines, Pa. is an "open carry" state, but I remember a story, not too long ago where some guy tried that in Philadelphia. He wound up face down on the pavement with a bunch of officers pointing guns at him. The first officer on the scene put out an "assist the officer" call. He was in the right, but it still did not go well for him.

FYI to open carry in Philly itself you do need a carry license. Open carry of a handgun is legal in PA without a permit, except in Philly. But is legal with permit. It's definitely not a city I would open carry in. Solo and you risk the locals, solo or in a group you risk the government sponsored locals

I’m not a fan of having my carry gun leave my person, I’d recommend buying a better belt and holster. Instead, I have a dedicated truck gun hidden behind my back seat. Suppressed .300BO folding stock AR. My daily carry gun (Glock 48) is always on my person.

There is a metal safe top designed for the console. The plastic latch would not withstand much force.

Philadelphia is a class 1 city in PA, Pittsburgh is a class 2. In several areas of Law, class 1 cities (yeah, right, cities) can make laws that are more restrictive than state law. Hence, avoid Philly like a real plague. Last I knew, Philadelphia did not honor my PA CCW license, you had to have a Philly license for that!

Under current PA state preemption laws, any PA carry license, or carry license from most other states as PA recognizes a bunch, is valid for carry in Philly.

There are some exceptions to preemption for first class cities (Philly), and one of those is open carry...so gotta have a carry permit (from any state) to open carry there despite not in the rest of the state.

I wouldn't expect Philly LE to know or acknowledge this fact, though. Kinda like Ceres out there sometimes, no laws, just cops.

But by law if you have a carry license it is valid in Philly

This is the best jumping off point to read current laws usually with citations directly to the statutes in question

Yes, I understand you were being snarky; I just chose not to address it, but since you’re sticking with it, why apply that to everyone that has a pistol mount in this thread? Then you’ll feel much better, I’m sure. There was no need for this, but here you are.
