You know, that slot next to the seat might be the place where thieves most overlook. Will check it out for my little Walther PPS M2. The door channel might be overlooked, but less chance of that IMO. The center console is always checked, so the worst place to put expensive crap.

Make sure you know the laws in your state... in most cases, the weapon must be completely concealed. If it's somewhere that can be seen, or if you have to throw a towel over it (which will inevitably get knocked off at the wrong time), you may be in violation of the law as well as committing poor weapon handling.

Oh, and if it gets seen during a traffic stop? Yeah, you're going to be seeing the wrong end of the officer's weapon while you're unceremoniously removed from the vehicle.

OK guys, heres what I have been planning all along...I want a place to keep it in my truck, that has quick access, mainly when I'm traveling in states that honor my conceal permit.
Unfortunately, I drive into CA, 6-10 times a year and so then the unloaded pistol will go in a locked case which is kept in the truck bed which is covered by a shell.
I live in a remote (multiple access gates) area so yes, most of the time it would stay in the car at night. If I'm locally in town, it would either go in my waistband, pocket or stay in the truck...
So yes, I'm slightly uncomfortable with leaving it in the truck while in town. Could I get broken into there? Yes but most likely not. Am I willing to take that chance?.....
What I was really hoping for in this thread was to get a response from someone more clever that myself that has custom made a REALLY discreet secure compartment behind a dash, center console panel or cushion or whatever. Something/somewhere that a bad guy would never look for in their haste to quickly steal stuff out of the truck which by the way has a tracking device on it. Sooooo......if such a discreet compartment existed, I'd have no compunction about occasionally leaving the pistol in the car more often, when in town where 95% of the crimes/assaults happens.
I appreciate ALL the suggestions so far...

Totally agree..the tendency to leave it in the car because "it will never happen to me" is strongly there. More likely they just temporarily forget about it.

So it's my understanding you are looking for a secure spot to hide a pistol... ok so if I tell you my spot , I tell the world . If you comment on it let's say in a positive way then you tell the world . Kinda ruins the ok hide my pistol where they will never look

Guess I'm the only one who feels safer not carrying around my gun.

Do you also feel safer not carrying around a fire extinguisher? How about a jack and lug wrench? Insurance?

Default Holster Mounting Center Console

Curious as to what fasteners people have used when mounting a pistol holster or flashlight base on the inside of the center console. Although plastic, the inside of the console seems pretty solid and I would certainly hope to get by using screws versus bolts that would become visible on the exterior of the center console.

Thanks!

I pulled the cup holder and gear shifter surround. Installed a magnetic pistol mount using screws, nuts and fender washers. Once installed, all you see is the mount. Very clean.
