In my buddy's '93? F-150 he did this by making a custom lockbox where the cd player used to be. In today's trucks, I'm not sure if that would work .

I like the idea of the magnet mount. I never would of thought of that. I generally carry a stainless Taurus in my truck(non magnatic I assume) but I could carry a different pistol that the stainless one.
Does someone sell the magnet for this application ? Or is it a coated magnet made for general use ?

Lots of magnet mounts available out there, I don;t thik any specific to our F150's but all the ones I've seen are universal. Two screws and mount anywhere.

Some stainless alloys are magnetizable - check.

Yes, magnets intended for guns are rubber-coated, plastic-coated, or fit inside a plastic shield.

I eventually wound up installing a magnet mount to the side of the console. Strong enough it'll even hold my desert eagle .50 but is usually just your everyday caliber, .380-.45. Depends on what I'm carrying the day of. Has a rubber skin and is rated for 25lbs.

You have to pull it off at an angle due to the strength.

Thats really cool. I love that. I'll be getting two of thoses. One for my truck, one for mothers car. She pointed out very recently that the clip on the back of my holder had been scratching/gouging the inside door pocket of her car....

Just a word of warning from a friend's recent experience. His truck was broken into about 2 weeks back. They smashed his window, tore the interior apart, broke into the center console, but didn't take anything. The police officer that responded told him;

"Take the Glock sticker off your back windshield and move the gun magnet out of sight."

Apparently the A-holes are breaking into any vehicle that may even look like it has a gun in it now. Ever since the gun/ammo market sky rocketed, they have seen a huge increase in car break ins looking for fire arms. So I guess the lesson is, don't advertise it with gun related stickers on your vehicle and make the interior discreet. It's crazy times we live in now.

Yes, putting a gun, let alone handgun, sticker on your vehicle is a GREAT way to get it broken into. Always has been. Always will be. It's like advertising GUN INSIDE, JUST SMASH AND GRAB AND IT CAN BE YOURS!

Probably the only thing worse for a break in is when a woman goes to a park dressed for a walk or jog and looks around before ducking down after parking, before leaving the car...then leaves the car with no purse or bag. Yup, there's a purse under the seat. That and gun stickers on cars...choosing to be theft target.

People are people, everywhere, all times. They will steal your ****. Do what you can to look like a low probability target if you want them to go after another vehicle or keep on looking.

Don't put the sticker on the outside of the vehicle - put it ON the magnet. It should say, "I'm carrying it, and I'm watching you."

I built a hidden security vault for my truck, big enough for laptops, purses, wallets, handguns, & ammo.

Metro Detroit must be a harsh place to live. I'd move before I altered my life due to thugs, thieves etc..... however, I do have an advanced alarm system on both the home and both vehicles as well as CCTV cams all over the place, never can be too safe in that regard.

Good idea on the gun related stickers, my NRA sticker will remain however.
