There's a thread on here or f150online that has a bunch of different pictures of where people keep their guns. I'll see if I can find it.

I like the ideas but there not big enough for an AR-15 pistol. Any suggestions? Probably don't need a beta in the truck but a 30 would be nice.

It's not about being threatened. It's about being prepared.

There are millions of law abiding gun owners in the US and a minuscule fraction ever have to fire their guns in self defense.

It is a genuine Pisser if you do find yourself in need to defend yourself and no way to do it.

And lets not forget, it's not just criminals. Many, many people live in states where humans are not necessarily at the top of the food chain. Ever tried to win a fight with a Bear using a stern look?

I just googled it... Man... I bet thats a handful.

My (future) son in law will start his new job as a DNR agent this week. He will be issued a fully automatic M16 (vietnam era). It will be a brand new gun that was never used that the DNR purchased from the military for like 25 bucks each a few years ago. Point is... the DNR must see a need for their guys and gals to carry fully automatic weapons in their vehicles along with the Glock 22 and an 870.

He also gets night vision and all kinds of other toys... I was amazed at what a DNR agent gets issued... some crazy stuff to catch poachers and spot lighters... Sorry for the OT...

Not only that, but carrying a gun changes your thought process. It's a way of life.

Not to mention most CCW holders actually train on a regular basis.

**** does indeed happen, it just happens much less frequently.

Edit: In VA, you do have to have the Federal background, but there is no Fingerprinting. We also have no sort of Registration.

However, the gun stores are required to keep their form 4473's on hand for 7 years (or so).

I will say this, a break-in and theft of, or confiscation of, Gun Store 4473's would be a frickin' nightmare for everyone.

I have fired a gun in a stituation that I thought could be self defense... I guy was trying to steal a car at my house when I heard him and confronted him... he started at me and I fired a shot over his head as a warning... he fled on foot... I could have dropped him dead but didnt think it was wise over a car.... If he had proceeded to come at me I would have wounded him for sure.

Was I scared? Your darn right... I didnt want to shoot a guy but I didnt want him to touch me either. I called the police before I went out to stop him... they never even came to investigate. I called them back and asked why? They said the closest officer was a long way off and was busy....

I have a CC permit but dont really carry a weapon often... but it is my right to do so if I choose.

My wife and both my daughters go to the range with me and all can handle a firearm safely. My youngest (17 now) taught her boyfriend to shoot a couple of weeks ago. That was fun to watch.
