The toggle goes away if you have Automatic Updates turned on.
Yep; can confirm. I’d not seen a notification toggle until my automatic update turned itself off. Yesterday when it turned back on notification went away, but came back today when auto update turned off. I don’t understand why auto update and notification wont allow me to turn them on currently; I’m hoping its designed that way while its in the process of downloading an update. Perhaps the OTA works in discrete packets over time with big data volumes and it takes the choices away until it is done. I haven’t tried resetting anything yet, giving it a few days to see what it will do
I don't have notifications even when I turn off automatic updates.
I also checked 'About SYNC and it says software version 21136 Revision 134.
Not sure that's old or not but it says I am up to date.
I have yet to see an update come in for Sync, so that isn't unusual. People keep (understandably) combining Sync updates and Power-Up. I haven't yet seen evidence they are related. Power-Up updates target the modules in the truck for features and fixes, and Sync updates would target your actual head unit software. Most changes, including 1.4, 1.6, and 1.7.1, have been around truck features and fixes, not the underlying Sync software.
That said, for every update I have received for Power Up, I have had a little banner show at the top that my system recently received an update. It is easily missed and only shows for about 10 seconds. I imagine the notifications will happen whenever Ford releases an actual Sync 4 update and asks you to install it.
You also will see notifications in your FordPass app when a new Power-Up install is done, but these also expire after some time. I think mine only stuck around for about a week.
I think people just need to enjoy their truck and not worry about it so much. I checked a lot of VINs and not once did I find anyone missing any updates, only person with an issue had trouble getting his actual FordPass to activate but we got that figured out.
Funny you mention it. Never seen those messages. About a month ago, the Dashboard via your account on the web said I had a notification. Clicked on it, a notification window popped up empty. Tried different browsers. Cleared the cache. Still empty. Gave up. It just went away one day.
May not be a big deal but if you are remotely a teensie bit curious or have a lil ocd, it will drive ya nuts. Ask me how I know. Lol
It's still working through. It's a big update and only does one module at a time.
Vul, can you please check it one more time. No sign of anything here and we are leaving for the Smokies in the morning. Just want to make sure it either is or isn't... Much appreciated.

Well, now, this is peculiar. I checked mine, and it does not show any version. What’s up with that? In addition to it not letting me toggle on automatic updates, makes me thing something is squirrelly with my software
I swear it's hard to trust half of the safety features on these trucks will work when an emergency happens.
The lack of software consistency and polish for simple UI elements is disturbing. One can only hope they test out features like evasive steering and pedestrian collision and many others.
I'm 4 months away from having my truck for 1 year and I'm genuinely concerned with how ford plans to keep up with features on current models as well as upcoming models.

I’m not really shocked by it, and I knew buying a Ford (any legacy brand for that matter) selling tech, they are an auto manufacturer first and tech company second (or third or fourth). This isn’t like Tesla or Rivian being a tech company that makes automobiles, it’s an auto manufacturer pretending to be just as good as a tech competition. Seems like a fake it till you make it mentality. These legacy brands are really going to have to allocate more resources to communicate development and manage expectations otherwise the competing tech companies will just start advertising using people like us who were let down by the promises of tech by the legacy brands. Selling the ability to push OTA updates but then having VERY few and seemingly sporadicly selective updates is not going to fly long term. I know these F-150’s could easily be on monthly or quarterly bug fixes but a year in, not much movement. Get on it Ford!!!!
