Ford just doesn't stop pumping out 1250 trucks a day because they didn't have parts. At some point when the supply chain's recover, a dealership in 2024 (with no supply chain issues) will have normal unimpeded access to the '24 model year, plus 100,000 extra vehicles to sell from the previous 2 years that are considered brand new but aren't. Oh, and interest rates will be 10%+.

The wholesale market is already starting to tank, and there is a lag on msrp of about 9 months typically.

Regardless of when this occurs, it will occur, and anyone who paid an inflated msrp and/or dealer markup for a truck missing options in 22/23 will lose badly trying to resell/trade in that market. Obviously a dealer markup is always unrecoverable in resale, as will be any msrp increases since 2020. If you financed a '22 or '23, that loan is going to be under water by '24
I'd imagine that a large majority of those vehicles that are sitting are fleet orders. They will make no bearing on what ends up on dealer lots, and thus, will have zero impact on retail prices. There is not going to suddenly be trucks overflowing dealer lots.

The other aspect of the used market you have to consider is inventory. Ford's numbers have been way down for the last 2 model years. Guess what, that means in 4-7 years the used inventory is also going to be down a commensurate amount.

As far as missing features affecting price, you can't look at it with your order-to-suit-new-truck mindset. 5+ years from now a used buyer is not going to be scrolling through ads looking for a red SCrew 4x4 145" 502A with Max tow, 3.5eb, 2k inverter, co-pilot active, 360 cameras, sport package and bed utility package. They will look for a SCrew 4x4 with 3.5eb and settle on everything else because beggars can't be choosers. Look at how many posts have been on here that someone says they got tired of waiting for their order for their truck and found one on a lot. "Not exactly what I wanted but close enough ". Now amplify that mindset x 10 and you have the majority of the used buyer market. I don't think most buyers 5+years from now will even be cognizant that half of MY22 and MY23 had deleted features.

This, all of this. I think this is the most cogent and concise explanation of the changes in the vehicle market that I've seen on this forum. Extremely well-put, high quality post.

Angry no Sirius

Same thing happened to me, except nobody had me sign any acknowledgement. The truck came at Thanksgiving and when I tried to set up the Sirius radio -- guess what -- no Sirius radio, just an AM/FM. Surprise! And no credit was issued. In fact, the base price was higher than the order I signed in May. I plan to either get a Sirius radio, with or without the navigation system, or get a check from the dealership. I'll ask them first, and if they refuse, will get a small claims court judge to rule.

While not an F150, my sister in law received a notice from Ford to take her 22 Explorer for the rear AC controls, since they were not there when it was sold. She took to the dealer, dealer took her to work. Upon getting the car at the end of the day she drove home. She decided to look at what they did, which turned out to be nothing. She called the dealer the next day and they told her it was just an "audit" so that we can order the parts from Ford. When she asked when they would arrive, they told her who knows, but at least they are ordered! Wonder if they will do this for F 150's?

the fact that people are taking delivery of high trim F-150s without heated steering wheels is absolutely mind-blowing to me.

I guess it means that a heated steering wheel is just not that big of a deal, to refuse delivery.

yea it’s weird to believe that some people might have different opinions from others.

I bet some people even like colors besides silver!

I never had a heated steering wheel on any of my vehicles. So you don't miss what you never had.
