SUMMARY

Due to the number of potentially impacted features on a particular vehicle, the Acknowledgement Form has been updated to include a check box for each feature that could be impacted. Dealers must check the appropriate box(es) on the Acknowledgement Form prior to asking for the customer’s signature. Failure to check the proper boxes could result in an erroneous assumption by customer that none of customer’s features are impacted.
Damn. More than just a disappointment for me, I was on the cusp of ordering with Granger but this has torn it. I'm a frugal (aka cheapskate) buyer and was looking at an XLT 301a, so heated steering wheel doesn't make a difference to me, but losing heated sideview mirrors (standard on basic XLT trim) is a non-starter for me, not exactly something you can readily retrofit after the fact. For those with Lariat or above trims ordered or about to be ordered that's a real slap in the face.

When my 2022 was cancelled after a 6 month wait, I bought a used 2021. My dealer reordered it as a 2023 even though I told him I wasn't paying $7k more for it. Got an order acceptance and an 11/7 build date email from Ford. There's no way I'm taking delivery of a stripped down truck for more money. I'm sure Ford is doing what they can, but it's a bad look.

I'm (literally) in the driver's seat in this situation, happy with my 2021. The dealer isn't sitting in a bad spot either, he'll just sell it for more than I'm going to pay anyway. I'd imagine someone that didn't order it won't miss the heated steering wheel, mirrors, tilt headrests, misc cabin lighting, temp on the dials, and who knows what else.

Give it some time, the dealers will be flooded with used, off lease, or unsold 22's and 23's missing options that they or their owners overpaid to acquire, sitting next to a full inventory of 24s that are both cheaper and missing nothing.

Someone is gonna lose hard on these trucks. They are up 10k on the year and missing standard options, whomever buys them isn't getting that back on trade or resale.

You think 24s are going to go DOWN in price? Whatever it is you're taking you need to take a break, you've had too much.

Six months ago, we thought the supply issues plaguing the industry since 2021 would be over by now.. it's gotten worse.

It's the new normal.

It is inevitable the msrp will fall and fall hard. You currently have 45,000 dealer stock '22s sitting in storage lots waiting for parts as we head into '23 with a similar parts shortage and dealers still only fulfilling majority retail orders. Ford just doesn't stop pumping out 1250 trucks a day because they didn't have parts. At some point when the supply chain's recover, a dealership in 2024 (with no supply chain issues) will have normal unimpeded access to the '24 model year, plus 100,000 extra vehicles to sell from the previous 2 years that are considered brand new but aren't. Oh, and interest rates will be 10%+.

The wholesale market is already starting to tank, and there is a lag on msrp of about 9 months typically.

Regardless of when this occurs, it will occur, and anyone who paid an inflated msrp and/or dealer markup for a truck missing options in 22/23 will lose badly trying to resell/trade in that market. Obviously a dealer markup is always unrecoverable in resale, as will be any msrp increases since 2020. If you financed a '22 or '23, that loan is going to be under water by '24

MSRP on trucks will not be coming down. We were still talking about how expensive trucks were 10-15 years ago. You will be waiting a long time. This is the new normal as stated. I intend to keep my truck for 20+ years...if all goes well.

what i think paul is thinking is this: that b/c features are being deleted and tons of 2022's are sitting, it means prices will drop!

MSRP isnt going to go down on 2023, 2024 or 2025 F150's...but right now, many ARE paying MSRP or MORE. if things get back to "normal" like 2019 where trucks were everywhere, you could shop around for a truck, and pay below MSRP + incentives, then yeah paul is on to something.

Thing is, thats not happening any time soon. so ford has a whole bunch of 2022's awaiting chips? well, i guarantee people will pay MSRP and more b/c most probably have heated seats and mirrors and such.
once they are gone and the 2023's are sitting, people will buy them too regardless of options that were deleted. remember, ford is already giving people credit for the options that arent included.

IF supply chains do recover, ford will just implement features/options back into their vehicles and probably RAISE MSRP. I do agree with paul that the used market for F150's will be interesting. which truck has what features and what not.

Boy, those are some awfully broad strokes you're painting with.
