Removed Features?!
So, I met with my dealer (Fleet Mgr) today to check out the truck (501A) that is ready, but has had the Nav/Sirius XM deleted and that is my one big gripe.
To get similar functions, we connected my iPhone 12 and CarPlay connected pretty nicely and maps popped up along with some other things. It seemed to work pretty well. I haven't tried SiriusXM, but am more of a Spotify user, so not sure this is going to impact me too badly. Cell service isn't too much of an issue for me 95% of time and I think NOT having the functions incorporated will mostly impact resale value albeit 10+ years away. He also offered to discount by $425 to make it work and I am otherwise set to take delivery tomorrow.
Am I missing something?

no sirius is not the issue, more the native maps/nav (whatever else that comes along with the Ford intel) and (edit begins here) not so much from a resale perspective, but general functionality / satisfaction. Also, I'm getting so called invoice price (7% off MSRP) and $0 doc fees, making it hard to pass up.

I'm one of the guys that got my truck with no Nav/Sirius. To be honest, I probably would've chosen to use CarPlay even if I did have the built-in Nav. Sirius is extremely overpriced for what you get. There are multiple music streaming apps, there's podcasts, etc. that have really put radio (be it AM/FM or XM) on the decline. For $200 /yr, its not a very compelling offer when you can get most music streaming apps for the same or less cost, with more versatility, and more control.
I'm from a bit younger generation (I'm pushing 30), and it seems to be the trend that having the phone-reliant tech like CarPlay and Android Auto is much more important to folks around my age than built-in nav and Sirius. I don't know a single person under the age of 50 that uses Sirius. So I don't really think it'll affect resale that badly. Factor in that folks who buy used cars are generally not super picky, and I think you're looking at a very minor effect on resale value, if one at all.
That's my take. Anecdotal; I have no stats to back anything up here. Just my general thoughts.

I am super confident 10 years from now included NAV won't be a thing (or it will go back to being a very expensive option), and it will only be through your phone.

I agree, I think the number of people that will care about factory nav in 5-10 years will be nil. Updates might not even be available at that point and who would want to pay the astronomical price when linking your phone works great and the nav apps are free (at least for now). I use CarPlay to link my iPhone to my aftermarket head unit and use either google maps or Waze depending on what I'm doing and I can't imagine not doing it that way.
Update: Got my 501A yesterday and am not missing the NAV and sirius. Granted I'm coming from a 2006 toyota tundra, so this is a whole new standard of life! The unit syncs up with phone so easily and not really missing the lost features and like others said, there'll be something new on the mobile device in 10 years that'll trump the auto mfr's platforms so no loss. preciate all the comments.
Some of us old farts have had Sirius in our cars since 2004, and won't go without.
I won't even rent a car or truck without. When travelling, I like having my music stay on my channel -
No loss of signal when leaving a city, then trying to find a new station.
Some people complain about the cost - but are you telling me that all these other options are free?
For select content, you're paying it for it somewhere.
I like listening to ch 23, or 26, or 100, or......
To me, it was a deal breaker not having Sirius.
YMMV
have a grateful day :-)

That's right, the dash unit can accept play from your smartphone if you have the Sirius app downloaded, but if you're old school I doubt you'd like the inconvenience ;-) I know some older dudes who wouldn't do it either, but another suggestion you could look into mounting a Sirius add-on unit in the new truck. Those are cheap and an audio shop could install maybe.
most Sirius plans now include use of the app - so with his phone connected to use nav etc... he can also stream from the app. Slightly less convenient and possibly subject to signal strength in some areas but overall it works. I use it in my old *** mustang with a carplay head unit all the time
