Is the complexity of powerboost worth it ?
It's not a PB vs ICE conversation; It's comparing the two platforms (hybrid v non-hybrid) in terms of performance, value, reliability and longevity.
I am 100% in the PB camp and sympathize with those PB'rs who have had significant issues. I have my share of glitches (to the point of getting a personalized license plate that reads GLITCHY) but the truck starts every time, gets me to my destination, and does it in a style and comfort exceeding my expectations.

Edmunds has one long-term PowerBoost and says it's been great.
The company I used to work with has five and all have been great. I own one and barely drive it, and it always starts right up. No issues. I've taken it on 250-mile trips to Vegas, it's fantastic.

I could frame this response on my wall because I need to be reminded of this. Reliability is the #1 issue for me, which is why I have always owned Toyotas. After reading it is the 3rd least reliable car on the road I about had a heart attack and sold the truck for a 4Runner.

Nice choice on 4Runner…best site is T4R.org.
Not to say I did sell the truck. I still have it. I ALMOST sold the truck for a 4Runner. Considering I just bought the truck two months ago my wife would possibly kill me if I turned it in so quickly.
I think there aren't enough market forces yet to where they would feel like they have to offer it. My guess is it would far outsell the 3.5 PB (and cannibalize Ford sales) unless they tried to "trim-limit" it to lower trims only. More profitable for them at this time to just offer the single powerboost power train. Toyota offers a very similar (less capable) hybrid and Ram will offer something next year that if it's popular might force Ford to do something with better mileage than the 3.5PB. I think that would be a killer power train option as long as you could still tow at least 7k with it. They also might be planning to do that when they drop the 5.0, which they will understandably delay as long as they can.

If Ford were to do that to the 2.7, it would be called EcoBoost, but I think the twin-turbos get that... something for Ford to think about. And if Ford made a hybrid 2.7 twin-turbo, I'd be first in line.
What extended coverage warranty did you get?
