Default Is the complexity of powerboost worth it ?

Have to wonder whether the powerboost and the complexity and potential maintenance / reliability headaches are worth it ? I've had a 2.7 in my last 2 crew cabs and all has been fantastic but I have flipped the trucks prior to 50,000 miles. I just really want reliability and getting ready to flip again in next year or so. thoughts ?

What complexity? Hybrids fare better than ICE vehicles while EV cars fare worse than the two.

I have a Lariat PowerBoost with $20k worth of options, BlueCruise, you name it, only two things I didn't want: moonroof and an office desk between two front seats.

It has been absolutely flawless, I have never had a problem or even a hiccup.

The PowerBoost problems you're hearing of are mostly with the added tech found in Lariat and above. Mine was built June 2022.

I had the dreaded “12V Battery State of Charge Low” warning light 10 days into ownership. Dealer had my truck for nine days. So far I haven’t had additional problems, but I’m fearful of the reliability.

Are you going to keep it for 10+ years, or ‘flip’ after 50,000 miles again? Anything can be pretty reliable for the first 50,000 miles…

As for ‘is it worth it’? That’s a question only you can answer. The forum isn’t going to decide that for you.

It's not hard to see that the PowerBoost has everything the Ecoboost has, plus an entire integrated sub-system. That is the literal definition of complexity.

Furthermore, can you provide a source that says the Powerboost is more reliable than ICE only? As the owner of two hybrid vehicles, I can say, with certainty, that not all hybrids are created equally. It's a Consumer Reports....report....that you're looking for.

if you only intend to keep the truck for a few years, i don't see anything wrong with it. but if you expect to drive it for a couple hundred thousand miles, i would stick to a traditional ICE

I said the hybrid is more reliable than ICE.. not the PowerBoost. I don't know about PowerBoost although mine's great and two owners I know report theirs as trouble-free, both being XLT PowerBoost. Ford's issues are mostly electronic gremlins with the infotainment, I have none with mine and I think I'm one of the few.

J.D. Powers also concluded EV is more troublesome than ICE, no mention of hybrid.

Love mine. 12V low charge error…dealer exchanged battery…smooth sailing. 9000 miles. Love it. Favorite vehicle in my garage.

I have to admit that I really did like mine but after three failures and Ford admitting that they could not fix the problem. It was history. I only owned it for about four days before Ford agreed to buy it back.
