Thanks rugedraw! I have not had an update since June. So I now look forward to them coming through.

I know it can take a while, but is there any support that can push them through on demand? Like a FORD dealership?

Dealers can manually install the updates, but Ford does not pay them for labor hours to update modules, so you most likely won't get any help from them. Nobody likes to work for free, so you can't blame them.

Your truck is on Sync 23159 which is two version behind the latest. OTA history shows two successful OTA's recently. You are a little behind, but not in the situation this thread is about.

Ok Rugedraw I hate to ask but could you please check my VIN? I know it's out of date. VIN#1FTFW1E80MFA23987. 11/20 build and purchased 2/21. I need several recalls and other service done. Don't know if dealer will do anything to help. Thanks for your help;! Tom

Hey Rugedraw,

First of all, I want to take the time to say how much I genuinely appreciate you helping people the way you do. It's not often that you find someone willing to go above and beyond the way that you do.

But I, like many others, seem to have an OTA issue. I have a 21 f150 the I just bought, but I can't turn on automatic updates, so I'm assuming it is the same issue. Since it is out of warranty, the dealer won't help. Just hoping you could take a look at mine as well. At least I will know more and can talk to the dealer and have a bit more knowledge going in and hoping they won't hose me too much.
Thank you!
Tommy

I'm glad to be of help when and where I can.

Yea, your truck is on Sync 20301 which is the bad software known to break the OTA process. I made a thread on another forum detailing the issue. You can read about it here:

Your efforts in this post are commendable! My question to you is, other than bothering you with our vin numbers , is there another way for us to do this checking for updated software? Thanks

The only thing you can check in terms of software off what version of Sync the truck is on. That's about it.

I just noticed that if I go to https://www.ford.ca/support/sync-maps-updates/ and throw in my VIN, it would tell me what version of sync I have. It shows me there that it is 20301. I couldn't get the truck to show me that info.

I don't know if that is any different than the tool you use, but if it helps even a little and someone can check on their own and not feel guilty, like me, of bothering you, then all the better.
