Automatic updates disabled
I just noticed that if I go to https://www.ford.ca/support/sync-maps-updates/ and throw in my VIN, it would tell me what version of sync I have. It shows me there that it is 20301. I couldn't get the truck to show me that info.
I don't know if that is any different than the tool you use, but if it helps even a little and someone can check on their own and not feel guilty, like me, of bothering you, then all the better.

Please check my VIN.
Thank you!

Thank you!
That is the latest available Sync version. If you have that, you are up to date in terms of the relevant modules and for sure are not affected by the issue this thread is about. Do you have any particular issues you want me to look it, or were you concerned about being behind with the updates?
I'm new to this update stuff and reading most of the posts here leaves me wondering if not keeping up with them will effect vehicle operations.
I couldn't care less about the screen working as long as the radio works.
I have a '22 that I bought from Ford last July, "gold certified" and I presume up to date with these matters. In the past few uses there was an update notice that I just ignored because they seemed to ask me about scheduling a time or do it now and something else. I didn't know the consequences of "doing it now" or how to schedule one and really how to navigate the screen itself.
I'm just fine with turning the key and driving down the road and the screen is a point of frustration and nonsense for me and a dealership is an hour drive for tech help.
I'm not as cranky as it sounds like above😉 and I'll do what's needed just like all of the regular service, but I'm truly ignorant about computer tech. A few questions...
will the truck need internet access for an update?
how do you tell if the truck is "connected "
is the truck operable while getting the update
and like I mentioned at the top, do updates have anything to do with the operation of the truck or is it just for the screen and phone connection.
I've had a cellphone for 45 years and am perfectly fine picking it up for a call and a Garmin stuck to the windshield is fine as well.
Thanks for any help, and Rugedraw you are very generous and should probably be paid for your help!👍

Many people share your sentiment and don't care bout them and others are obsessed with them. I think updates are a good thing, but some people have had issues where updates mess something up and don't let them install to avoid problems. While it is rare for an OTA to break something or render a vehicle useless, it can happen.
I meant to ask about all of the 3 letter abbreviations 😆. I haven't a clue.
I've messed around my the "screen" when it grabbed the audio portion of a phone call (several times) while parked, no key and I was only near it. Then I also undid the blue tooth on my phone and I think it's stopped that, what stopped it IDK.
How do I tell if I'm connected to fordpass?
Thanks for you're time @rugedraw !
I might need to drop my VIN on you but I'd rather try to figure it out and it seems you're plenty busy with requests. 👍
For you guys that like this stuff.... somehow I activated the steering wheel shake thing accidentally and not knowingly. Our roads are **** and to avoid frost heaves and potholes one will use the whole road. (if no traffic) the shake wheel made me pull over to check the lug nuts!
I finally figured what it was (besides the loose nut behind the wheel) and figured I needed to go to the dealership and get it turned off. Along the same time I noticed the little green "symbol" on the dash that I didn't think was there before. Several weeks went by and sitting in the truck I noticed that same symbol on a button on the steering wheel. Laughing at myself I hit that button and the green light went out.
I never took symbols in school.
Hopefully you guys will laugh along with me, at me.
