Hi @rugedraw You mind checking out another? I just bought my first truck, a 2021 XLT from the North and when I went to check the About Sync screen, there's no software version or revision listed. Automatic updates is grayed out.
The original warranty is up but since it's a Blue Certified truck, I think I get 3 months to get these types of things fixed. (Or 14 days to return the truck)

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your truck is on Sync 20262 which is one of the known bad software versions from 2020 known to break the OTA process. Your dealer needs to manually update your APIM or diagnose it and replace it with a new one, or your truck will never get an update. It still has the same software it was built with on 12/5/2020.

Ugh, I was worried about that. Hopefully this is covered under the Blue Certification Warranty Program.
Not the best introduction to the Ford F150 ecosystem but hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after I get this taken care of.
Thanks so much for looking it up and for all the information on this thread!

Great trucks, but you and I have trucks that were of the first batch to come off the assembly line. My truck had a similar issue which is how I got into all of this.
Just in case my experience helps anyone else: I took my vehicle to the dealership to get the lack of OTA updates issue fixed. My truck was 3 days and 1700 miles past the original warranty; however, it was still under the Blue Certified Used Vehicle warranty (which has the same terms as the Ford PremiumCARE extended warranty).
Initially, the service rep told me that this was considered a "software upgrade" and isn't covered under the extended warranty. I made the case that I wasn't asking for an upgrade; rather, I was asking that they fix the problem with the vehicle that's causing it to not receive updates. No dice.
I pointed out that this was a problem that existed in the vehicle since it left the factory so maybe it could be covered under the original warranty? Nope.
I asked what the cost would be to fix it and he said 1 hour of labor: $209. Fine. The Blue Certified warranty has a $100 deductible anyway so it's not that much more.
Here's where it gets interesting: They tried updating the software but the update predictably wouldn't take so now they need to order and replace the APIM. Ironically, this is now covered under my extended warranty because it's hardware, not software. So I still have to pay the $100 deductible but that's it. Now I'm waiting to get it back but hopefully the problem is solved.
Here's where I'm a little confused: My impression is that the SYNC updates are actually pretty important. They don't just add bells and whistles but actually fix bugs and issues that affect how the vehicle operates so I don't understand why this wouldn't be covered under the warranties, if not under a recall policy. But maybe I'm overestimating its importance?

I would say you're overestimating the importance to the manufacturer, in terms of whether it's a warranty item. One could say that the software functions as well as it did when you bought it, which is the same as some badly-designed hardware that wears out quickly or doesn't work very well, but doesn't rise to the level of a recall, TSB, or customer satisfaction program.
I'm not saying I disagree with your assessment. I'm just viewing it as the manufacturer might.

Because the issue is affecting thousands of trucks who warranty is about to expire and it is cheaper for Ford to pay for the fixes on a case-by-case basis than it is to take accountability for their f*ck up and issue a recall to fix the trucks stuck on the bad software. Consider yourself lucky that you got it fixed as easy as you did.
So it turns out that they had to replace the APIM which took a couple weeks to arrive but now is done. However, I'm still on an old version of SYNC 4. I have no idea if updates are working correctly now but I just haven't been pushed one or if I'm still in purgatory. Is it possible to check? My display is showing a(n old) SYNC version so I guess that's an improvement.
