Thank you for the input. Yes, it is indeed MTI.

Hello all. I’ve been reading all the posts, and there is great info. Especially the wiring diagrams. Those will be helpful. I ordered a 21 xlt with the 7 speaker base stereo. I plan to upgrade it all except of course the head unit.
My question I have is deciding between a Dayton audio DSP-408, or an audio control DQ-61? I will be running the focal Ford integration series components in the front, and the integration series coaxials in the rear. 2- Pioneer shallow mount subs in a sealed box, and an alpine 5 channel X-A90V. In other stereos I’ve done, I sound deaden everything, and plan to gut the truck and do the same with this one.
critique the parts, and let me know your opinions, as I want to get it all ordered up before the truck gets here. Which is supposed to be end of October!!
thanks
Clarence

2021 XLT w/7 speaker system - Upgraded to Kicker 200.4 Key amp installed underneath/behind the OEM radio, used Plug n Play Kits custom wiring harness, mounted an AudioControl LC2i module w/a Kicker 800.1 amp and 2 Kicker 10" subs under rear seat. Even without the subs, the upgrade of the factory audio quality was incredible. No wire splicing, night and day difference in quality, even with the factory speakers/locations. HIGHLY recommend Plug n Play!!

I used that guys kit also. I did the key 200.4 and a 10” hideaway behind the back seats.
I struggled to get my dash far enough apart and for now just left the key under the center speaker between the air ducts. I was afraid to break something and couldn’t manage to get the black piece out from around the center screen. Not the finished piece on the out side but the one under it. Did you leave the center speaker connected? I did and listened for a few days and now listening fir a few days without it. It did kind of mess with the backup alarm sounds and the cross traffic alarm sounds a little. They just sound mostly treble now. But I definitely recommend those kits as well.

I work at a Ford dealership, I had one of my techs do the hard part for me as I'm not very good with the tear down... mounted the key amp under the module behind the HVAC system. The center speaker is still active, I just had to really fiddle around with the sound settings and the tuning. The Key amp did its self test to try and clear up the audio first then I mixed up the factory settings a bit, but I've noticed a huge difference. No question, I think if the front tweeters were angled just a little different it would really better the sound stage, but gotta make the best of what we have in the XLT!

10-4, someone will get a video out on how to take it apart. I found one but it was with the 8” screen and the 12” was put together differently. Yeah the Key makes the stock speakers rip. I can turn it up pretty dang far without distorting. The bass alone with the stock speakers was impressive, I would have probably been good without the 10” hideaway by just upgrading the doors with the Key.

I called the guy at plug and play. Was excellent to talk to and I think he got me straightened out. Looking at going with his wire harness and an audio control D-1200-6. Or the 5 channel. Not sure yet. Either one will have the built in DSP. I’ve never played with a DSP before so I’m looking forward to that.
I’m leaning towards going with hertz CPK 165 pro’s for the front. Not 100% sure yet though.
I like the dual sub MTI enclosure, but was going to mount the amp rack back there as well. So I’ll have to see on that one as well.
The guy at plug and play said maybe the amp would fit under the front seat. I don’t have my truck yet, so can someone have a look and see how much room is under there? Thanks
Clarence

Not much room under electric and cooled seats. I can speak of the others.

You also will have room for the amp under the back seat, behind the foldable storage (if equipped). I have the foldable storage as well as the dual 10" MTI box, and my amp Is behind the storage, and under the box.

Just stopping by to say thanks for this. Extremely helpful. I spent the weekend installing a complete system in my 21 and it wouldn't have been possible without this and the other info in this thread.

Here's the major components:
AudioControl LC7i
JBL Stadium 5 Channel Amp
JBL Stadium GTO960C Components (Front)
Kicker 2-way 47KSC6704 (Rear)
Kicker 8" Downfiring Subwoofer + Passive Radiator Enclosure

Couldn't be happier with the sound.
