Upgrading SYNC to SYNC 3
I would 2nd what AirBorne_Ape has said. I've only done a single conversion from 4.2" base sync to sync 3. I spent about $760 when all was said and done on a non-Nav system, and that was without making or buying a conversion harness, (repinning everything and only running the extra few wires for the GPSM, ACM and USB hub), as well as finding an awesome deal on a recessed sync 3 screen that was scratched. I had to repin connectors, splice and add new wires, fabricate L brackets for the recessed screen, reprogram using forscan and finally the update to v3.0. All very labor intensive, I made a few (correctable fortunately) errors along the way.
The conversion is extremely doable with only a minor amount of automotive knowledge, but somewhat time-consuming if you're doing it for the first time and if you're wanting everything to be perfect as you move from step to step. I think the most time-consuming part for me was making the brackets, since I was going from 4.2" to 8", I had no reference points with which to base my points off. I ended up making 3 sets of brackets, refining my measurements a fractions of an inch at a time till I got the screen exactly where I wanted it behind the bezel. Between the cost of the bracket material, and the time it took, I would spend the extra $100 next time to get a screen with the proper brackets already installed.

I am also thinking of upgrading sync 2 to sync 3. I need the pm with what I need and how much w/nav and w/o nav. I have the 8" with nav now but can use the waze app for nav if needed. Now they want $150 just to upgrade the maps on my sync 2. I have the 2015 Lariat. So far the prices I've seen are crazy for what you get. Thanks
is it possible to use a Lariat bezel with dual AC on an XLT? trying to make sure i get the correct bezel. I do want the Lariat for the camera buttons but not if it will not work. has anyone
used the Lariat bezel?
used the Lariat bezel?
You can use the Lariat bezel, but the dual AC won't work as a dual zone. It will still act as single zone. What camera buttons are you referencing? If you are talking about the buttons at the top of the bezel, they can be swapped with different button modules.
