I used an 8 gig drive. No problem on the second attempt. I suspect that I did something wrong the first time, though this process seems kind of awkward.

I bought a 32GB USB drive and still got the error... from the other thread, it doesn't seem to be a USB capacity issue, it's the memory for the non-Nav module. I had to alter the autoinstall.lst file for 2.3 to upload.

For example the first file will be "GB5T-14G386-AA.tar.gz" in the "SyncMyRide" folder.
Wow, I think I got every error message in these threads. Then I just backed up and followed the instructions:

1) Get a new 32GB USB drive
2) Format it exFAT, NOT FAT32
3) Rename the files and put them in the folder as described above
4) Should be two files "DONO..." and "Autoinstall..." plus the folder with the above renamed files on the USB, that is all
5) DO NOT try to extract the files that are in the SyncMyRide folder
6) I stuck the USB in and it still would not work, so I left it in there while I drove home from work
7) Suddenly the update started; after about 20 minutes it finished
8) I got home and let it sit turned off, removed USB drive, waited about 20 minutes
9) Version 2.3 is now loaded

I had tried Wifi updates, no luck. Ford website would not work to download files. Found 2016 w/NAV files online and the instructions above.

Have faith and hang with it, it will work.

I just wish I could get the v2.3 files. Owner.ford.con still says mine is up to date even though I have v2.2. I did add a couple of trucks that I found locally for sale and the show that v2.3 is available but when I start trying to download, I get an error message. I then request the download and get another error message. Just frustrating.

Why don't you visit your dealer and get them to update it? You might be able to argue its a warranty claim because the web site doesn't work.

You really aren't missing much. Ver. 2.3 doesn't add any visible features. I've only read that it enables phone based navigation apps like Sygic to work with Sync 3.

Ver. 3.0 will be officially released soon. I'm sure you've seen the posts and news releases about Waze integration coming, which requires v. 3.0.

There are links to v2.3 in post #33 of this thread for Nav and non-Nav if all else fails.

When I live chat Ford on the owner.ford website, that is always what they recommend, take it to the dealer. I always then ask will they charge me for the service and usually get crickets. Anyways, it is frustrating but not frustrating enough for me to waste hours taking it in to the dealer. I'll wait till 3.0 is officially released and hope that I can then download it through owner.ford. IF not, I might take it in then.

I'm honestly not sure, as I didn't even know it had updated until I checked the version history because of this thread.

Finally did mine this morning. I tried dozens of times to do it via Wi-Fi. It worked the last time. Not this time.

I could not tell if it was downloading and unplugged the USB. Got a message that it cancelled. Plugged it back in. Still no indication. Drove around for half an hour and no indication. Stopped, had breakfast and drove home. A banner at the top said it was now updating. Then I got a message that it was done and it restarted Sync. Then the banner came back up again saying it was updating. So, I drove around for a while more. Finally I got another message saying it was updated and indicated a vehicle restart was required. Now showing 2.3.

None of this matched the instructions from Ford. They sent me an email telling me how to report the update. It did not work. I had to go back to the download site, start the whole download process over and skip to the final step where I was able to upload the file off the USB which reported back to Ford the update.

I wish they would get their act together. Wi-Fi does not work which would have made this easy. I had to do their download and drive around for nearly an hour. Instructions not correct. Reporting back procedures screwed up.

Not good Ford.
