I upgraded to Sync 3 earlier this year so my owner.ford.com account doesn't recognize me as having Sync 3 - Currently on v2.2. Given this, I can't access the files for updating via USB... Like everyone else, I tried Wifi and it's not working. A couple of questions...

For those who upgraded to a Sync 3 unit (not original to your truck), any problems with v2.3 if you successfully updated?

Anyone have success with the zip file in an earlier post from the Mustang forum for the non-Nav v2.3 update?

I just checked my Sync version on the owner.ford site, and apparently mine updated to v2.3 in November by itself over wifi.

I updated to 2.3 through USB in November since it wouldn't update through Wifi. My account still says Update Available and current version is 2.2. Called Ford and they told me that it won't update on my account, but it doesn't matter anyway. I told them it states no new updates will come available if the page still states 2.3 is available and not installed. I also told them I have a friend at work that updated and his account showed the new 2.3. They came back and told me the account will update when linked to Wifi. It's been over two months with the auto update turned on and 4 bars and still nothing. I'm not holding my breath. This install went flawless and everything works fine, just wish the account would've updated.

Ed,

your owner.ford.com page will never show sync 3. No way to change that, and as a result you'll never get the updates for sync 3. Having said so, you wont notice too many updates between 2.2 and 2.3, just minor fixes. The biggest change is going to 3.0.

The easy work around is to get a VIN from a 2017 and plug it into your owner.ford.com account, then it may show you the software update.

Thanks for the suggestion... Going to see if I can find a non-Nav Sync 3 VIN number and see if it works. Any negatives with finding a VIN and adding it to my account that you can think of?

Is the non official 3.0 update working? I saw there was a downgrade thread a while back, just wondering why you would want to go back to 2.3.

This worked... found a VIN for a non-Nav Sync 3 truck and adding it to my account allowed me to download. Now I'm facing a MEM_ERR03 error... tried some of the fixes from the Sync 3 thread such as exFAT reformat, 32 GB flash drive, Master Reset, etc. and still getting the error.

Anyone else get this error? Just keep trying?

I've tried everything I know to do with the USB update with no luck. Ford's instructions are useless, and even after I created the "syncmyride" folder and unzipped all of the zipped files into it I still only get a message saying the USB drive is recognized - then nothing.

I was told by Ford the Updates are VIN specific so that might be why you can’t install someone else’s VIN on your truck.

I finally got it updated. I had to try twice - got the file downloaded but the first attempt failed, so I reformatted the USB drive, downloaded again, and gave it another shot. It worked the second time.

Not really sure what 2.3 does that 2.2 didn't do though.
