Question Sync 3 V2.3 Update

I have 2017 F150 with Sync 3 V2.0 "My Ford" shows V2.3 is available but when I try to download using USB from Ford website I get a box showing errors? Anyone else experiencing this.

download the file directly to your hdd first, format a usb drive in exfat and then extract from your hard drive to your usb drive. dont download directly to it

I wasn't able to extract to the USB drive as it corrupted. I had to extract to the folder on the HDD and then copy and paste them onto the USB drive.

Then I couldn't upload the file to the website to show that I had done it, but that is a different issue.

I’m looking to do the same thing, upgrade from version 2.0 to 2.3. The Ford website says I have the available 2.3 update but when I search for available updates with the truck it says my 2.0 Is up to date. Automatic updates are turned on.

Seems like this process would be smooth and simply if the automatic update from within the truck would work as intended.

Can anyone confirm that 2.3 is actually a worthy upgrade?

I have the 2.3 update on my 2016 XLT and cannot find any differences from the 2.0 version.

I also don't see any visual changes. My view of the differences are as follows:

Version 2.2. fixed issues with some 2017 models showing SiriusXM traffic speed on the nav map (my truck came with ver. 2.0 and traffic speed would not display...only traffic incidents would display - ver. 2.2 fixed the issue)

Version 2.3 enabled use of 3rd party navigation tools (e.g. Sygic) installed on smartphone to be used with Sync 3 via AppLink. There is a thread about this elsewhere on the forum.

It will eventually update if you have wifi turned on and available close to a router that you can log into. Preferably overnight for a few days. It doesn't happen quickly but I've had it update to two different versions by itself.

Yep - I have the same problem. I downloaded and then expanded the update on the HDD, loaded onto a clean USB and tried it in the truck. Error message.... Tried a few times then gave up.

I park close to my house so it will eventually update itself over wi-fi but still annoying.

I tried again today, with the truck parked in my garage and connected to my wifi, to have it look for an update. Again it found nothing and I'm still on 2.0. It must be trying because the "last checked for update on" indeed changed to todays date. (It seems to look every couple days.)
