I take it you were still under warranty?

I’m definitely leaving OTA updates turned off. The repair was covered by the extended warranty.

Was Sync slow to start up before? If so, did the new APIM improve that? I ask because mine has been slow since I bought the truck.

When you say slow, how slow is it? On my truck, Sync stared getting sluggish (taking a second or two to respond), but a Master Reset slapped it back into shape.
On my wife's Fusion, Sync started getting REAL slow (taking about 10s to respond). Master Reset did not fix it, but an APIM replacement (out of warranty) did fix it.

it was slow to start up at times. It seemed like every time I started the truck I would get a different symptom. All symptoms including the slow start up have been resolved (so far) with the new APIM.

Mine has always taken a full minute or two to start up completely to the point where it's responsive. Once it's done that, it's fine and works pretty quickly. It's just that initial startup that's painfully slow.

Im having this exact same issue in the same sequence as you experienced. It started with the prompts and memory problems and now it either gets stuck on the reverse camera or the screen just goes black until I hold down the power buttons and right button to reset it. Im to the point now where I have to reset it each time I turn on my truck.

After I go through all the BS pop-ups, if I stop at a store for a drink or what not, I have to do a restart when I get back in the truck to get the touch screen to function or listen to music. I have the above issue as well.

As I noted above, my complaint was "escalated" with a case number and was told to go to a dealership and have them follow TSB 22-2254, which essentially says reinstall the latest SYNC version from USB. They specialist somewhat reluctantly gave me the directions to download the latest version (3.4.22251) onto a USB and install it (which means I'm able to perform the TSB). I did this over the weekend (after first doing a master rest), but the issues remain. The only difference is that the Ford website now shows my current version as 3.4.22251 (which matches the APIM), instead of the previous 3.4.23088 (which was previously a mismatch). I then asked the specialist if there was a way to download a previous version of SYNC, then try to reinstall the updated version to see if that would solve the problem. I was told, "The dealership may have some way to "roll back" the update, but we do not."

Unless the dealership has a trick up their sleeve, it looks like we need to either replace the APIM or hope a new update is released soon.
