Sync 3 Memory Issue
I spot check the new TSBs, etc. a couple of times a week and have been keeping an eye out for something. My guess is that the same group of people who find new Sync releases on Ford's servers will find a utility package signed by Ford to clear the logs at some point.
Have you run the interrogator utility I outlined earlier in this thread to get the xml file that says how much space the log directory has free?
i let my truck run with the key in it for about 35 minutes(had to put the truck in drive and bak in park every 10 to 12 minutes before it auto shuts off) and my restart went through.
i got the same thing. a black screen and i thought for sure it was frozen but the one day i craked a few beers and sat there and waited. it worked.
thr again and be patient.
The log folder is probably purging just enough to keep issues at a minimum. If you run the interrogator utility I linked earlier in the thread, you might get an idea of how much free space you have, there's probably a sweet spot you are hovering around.
The Sync storage (at least the rwdata one referenced in this thread) is contained to the Sync unit itself. Yours would be the first case of it affecting other modules in the truck. Likely you have something else going on and it's not related.
You need to sit there and hold the VOL+Advance buttons and just keep holding them, I did it for a few minutes, then I was able to do the master resets again, just let it keep recycling. I mention how much freed up memory I got with two, then I gave to two more for good measure (but I didn't test the last two.)
You can turn that off on the function screen. I usually just drive around, but it auto shut off can be turned off temporarily. It's under vehicle settings on your instrument cluster.
