When did we become a parent bashing, kid bashing forum? Dude asked a question on what could be wrong with his truck. He provided a picture and an explanation of what he was doing prior to the problem occurring. I'm sure all he was looking for was some sage advice from people who have been there before. Who are you to judge where he got the truck, what he was doing with the truck, and his ability to fix said problem himself?
For a 16 year old kid, I'd say he handled himself quite well because I'm 36 and I would have told you all to F off. Who cares where and how he got his truck? When does it become "ok" to start mudding your truck, regardless of cost? Nobody bats an eyelid when people are throwing 6" lifts, CAI's, 35" tires and cutting off the crash bars on brand new trucks but this dude can't take his pickup mudding? Poor choice of mud puddle? Yep. Been there. At least he didn't go alone or had someone to call to get him out.
Hell, I can't take apart my brakes and rotors. I'm sure if I attempted it I probably could but I've never done it before.
So what, his parents bought him a truck. Good for them for having the means. At least you're not paying for his housing, clothing, education, cell-phone, and his kids like a lot of other people. Seems like some people are falling into the trap of it being a crime to be wealthy in America. You don't know what this kid does. He could sit around all day and play Playstation 4 and live off his parents or maybe he gets up with his parents at 4am and helps run the business and makes great grades at school, and the truck is an incentive for him to keep being a good kid because his parents can afford it and in their judgment, it's worth it.
I bought my first vehicle myself at 17 (1997) for $1000. It was a 88' Ranger 5 speed formerly owned by a company called Ehrlich Pest Control. It had 174,000 miles on it. My Dad had his own body shop as a second job to working in the steel mill. See, he used to have his own body shop where he did custom paint jobs but he had to file for bankruptcy in the 80s due to an IRS audit. Great with cars, not so great at hiring a CPA and he had a guy embezzling from him under his nose. So our family of 5 was without income. He got a job at the steel mill, a second job doing mechanic/body work on the side out of a rented garage, and a third job driving the Hostess delivery truck while my Mom, in her 30s, went back to school for nursing. Anyway, he had contracts to fix up Ehrlichs vehicles so he got a deal on that 88' Ranger for $1000. Told me about it, and I had my $1100 savings account from working at Wendy's, painting houses, and delivering pizzas over the past 2 summers.
The point of all this; I'd never buy my kids a brand new vehicle, but I won't judge a family that does. Even if I know the kid is a terd. It's none of my business. It's not my money. Stay in your lane and stay focused on what you're trying to achieve and spend less time looking over the fence complaining about what others have.
Maybe we should try to bring this thread and forum to a place where we don't flood a post with 30 responses of negative criticism and actually try to help someone out- just because you had to work 30 years to be able to buy a truck with a lower trim level than this kids. Are you that insecure?
Thanks for understanding. I'd have to say more than half of the guys commenting are just jealous because I was given a beautiful truck and it's nicer than there's.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's "jealousy" but more so just being rubber the wrong way. I personally think it's more of a reflection on your parents than you FWIW.
I'm 30, I bought my truck with my money, then I spent almost 10k on mods. Then I went and fu****** jumped that thing everywhere I could find and beat it to hell. I bought a TRUCK not a prius.
I've broken my brake lines 4 times. Just came home today with two new ball bearings, new sway links and had to rebalance and align the thing. Oh and my seat was squeaky
Dealer covered it because my service guy is awesome and he knows exactly what I am doing.
You driving through a mud pit isn't against the laws of owning a truck and it should be covered, I drive through them everyday on my way to work because that's just how the roads are here.
This forum is filled with people who LOVE to trash others and never have positive things to say. Keep your head up, work hard and don't listen to anyone who tries to make you feel bad because you come from a successful family, that USED to be the American Dream.
I took off all my rims. I cleaned out all the rocks. It does not squeal anymore but when i went to go wash it. It died on me. The Charging System: Service Now light turned on and about 30 seconds later it died in the middle of the intersection. So i called ford road side assistance and they came and towed it to the local dealership. Thanks to the ones who were understanding and helped me with my situation.
Likely something got doused in your mudding episode that the dealer will find. Whether they cover it under warranty or not won't matter if you are not paying for it, with all the mud they shouldn't.

I spent about an hour washing the underbody and engine
Auston, something useful I haven't seen mentioned on this thread: The manual for my 2012 F-150 said not to get into water over 15" deep. If you do you'll need to change the rear differential oil. It looks like you got in pretty deep, so you may want to see if your truck has the same instructions.
