Mudding gone wrong. HELP!
I will say the same as four others , it's a rock stuck behind the rotor between the shield.
I had one stuck there 2-3 weeks ago , I don't take the truck muffing either. I just drive down a bunch of dirt roads.
It seems like these trucks get rocks behind the rotor too easy.
You could always try brakes plus, or brake place and ask about a brake inspection. It'll either be free or cost $20-$40. If they find a rock they'll remove it and report back to you.
Good luck OP

While it's likely that the comments are correct, I'd throw out there that it could simply be rust. The way to tell is to drive it a few blocks, tapping the brakes lightly. If it stops, it was rust. If it doesn't, it's something else.
I had the same thing happen to me when I was offroad at the beach with a few buddys. really messed stuff up for me. I'm only 24. Your not alone. We all do dumb things. Just live and learn. You truck was no way prepared for something like that. Good luck though. I hope you truck is okay.
Wow.
When did we become a parent bashing, kid bashing forum? Dude asked a question on what could be wrong with his truck. He provided a picture and an explanation of what he was doing prior to the problem occurring. I'm sure all he was looking for was some sage advice from people who have been there before. Who are you to judge where he got the truck, what he was doing with the truck, and his ability to fix said problem himself?
For a 16 year old kid, I'd say he handled himself quite well because I'm 36 and I would have told you all to F off. Who cares where and how he got his truck? When does it become "ok" to start mudding your truck, regardless of cost? Nobody bats an eyelid when people are throwing 6" lifts, CAI's, 35" tires and cutting off the crash bars on brand new trucks but this dude can't take his pickup mudding? Poor choice of mud puddle? Yep. Been there. At least he didn't go alone or had someone to call to get him out.
Hell, I can't take apart my brakes and rotors. I'm sure if I attempted it I probably could but I've never done it before.
So what, his parents bought him a truck. Good for them for having the means. At least you're not paying for his housing, clothing, education, cell-phone, and his kids like a lot of other people. Seems like some people are falling into the trap of it being a crime to be wealthy in America. You don't know what this kid does. He could sit around all day and play Playstation 4 and live off his parents or maybe he gets up with his parents at 4am and helps run the business and makes great grades at school, and the truck is an incentive for him to keep being a good kid because his parents can afford it and in their judgment, it's worth it.
I bought my first vehicle myself at 17 (1997) for $1000. It was a 88' Ranger 5 speed formerly owned by a company called Ehrlich Pest Control. It had 174,000 miles on it. My Dad had his own body shop as a second job to working in the steel mill. See, he used to have his own body shop where he did custom paint jobs but he had to file for bankruptcy in the 80s due to an IRS audit. Great with cars, not so great at hiring a CPA and he had a guy embezzling from him under his nose. So our family of 5 was without income. He got a job at the steel mill, a second job doing mechanic/body work on the side out of a rented garage, and a third job driving the Hostess delivery truck while my Mom, in her 30s, went back to school for nursing. Anyway, he had contracts to fix up Ehrlichs vehicles so he got a deal on that 88' Ranger for $1000. Told me about it, and I had my $1100 savings account from working at Wendy's, painting houses, and delivering pizzas over the past 2 summers.
The point of all this; I'd never buy my kids a brand new vehicle, but I won't judge a family that does. Even if I know the kid is a terd. It's none of my business. It's not my money. Stay in your lane and stay focused on what you're trying to achieve and spend less time looking over the fence complaining about what others have.
Maybe we should try to bring this thread and forum to a place where we don't flood a post with 30 responses of negative criticism and actually try to help someone out- just because you had to work 30 years to be able to buy a truck with a lower trim level than this kids. Are you that insecure?

Gents alright the guy is a teenager we all did dumb stuff. I'm glad his parents have the financial ability to provide him with something nice. He made a mistake and was asking for advice on what to do. Let's stop bashing him.
1) yes make sure there aren't rocks or what not in the brake system. Check all four wheels really good.
2) dealer should be the absolute last venture. Yu don't want them being jerks and causing issues down the road. More so when you go to trade it in.
3) next time, go ahead and hook a strap up to the front and rear. I've buried a many a vehicle to the frame and glad when I started that method. Just easier to get pulled out.

A lot of jealous people here which is what most of it really comes down to. Shame on everyone for trying to scold this kid. Maybe you should try and stay on topic.
I dare say that there is not a person alive INCLUDING everyone on this board that hasn't made more than a few mistakes in their lives.
Get over it and worry about yourselves instead of being so high and mighty.
