The Leveling Kit Thread
I have been following along for sometime and finally got the parts in I think I need to get what I want. I have the Bilstein 5100 all around, Rancho Control arms, and an optional 1/2 spacer from motofab. I just opened up the control arm box and it looks like there are included spacers to add that 1/2" I was thinking about. I'm trying to decide weather to set the fronts at 1.75" with the 1/2" spacer for a 2.25" level, or go with 2.1" setting with the 1/2" spacer for a bout 2.5-2.6" level. I have read here most that set at 2.1" with my setup only get at best 2" of lift up front (2018 FX4 with 5.0), why I was going to add the spacer to get that little extra level. Is there any advantage to either of these options? Ride will mostly be on road, towing a travel trailer once or twice a month and off road maybe couple times a year. Any advice/ experience you guys have would be great to point me in the best direction...thank in advance to all. I will continue to follow enjoy all your mods.

When you install that 1/2" spacer, could you post some photos and measurements? I'm particularly interested in how much thread is showing once you bolt up the top mount, the three bolts at the top. Was there any hardware that came with the spacer.
Nothing wrong with what you're thinking. I had the 5100's on my '17 set at the 2nd notch from the bottom, and ran a 1.5" MotoFab spacer. Zero trouble.

Thanks. I was thinking of using just that spacer with a set of the nonadjustable Fox coilovers. That particular Fox gives a 2" lift, but I want 2.5". I did email MotoFab about exactly what thickness their spacer is, they told me 3/8". I looked at my topmount, with my Rancho Quick Lifts installed. I didn't measure, but it didn't look like I had long enough bolts, with that setup. Since you'll be using your OEM tophat, your results could vary from mine, but still interested in how things go.

MotoFab on left and Ranch on Right
MotoFab is 3/8"
Rancho is close enough to say 1/4"

Thanks for that. Odd they are two different thicknesses, which one are you gonna use?
Hopefully the rain will hold off for you, and me, I'm anxious to see what happens.

I upgraded my wheels/tires on my 2020 Lariat. I replaced the tires with 34" Nitto Ridge Grapplers on KMC 20" wheels. The ride is god awful with my 2" level. Might be 2.5, I really don't know. Im not against going up to a full 3" lift if that and a suspension upgrade will soften the ride. Looking for some direction on this. Half of me wonders if the 10 ply Ridge Grapplers are the culprit. I can feel absolutely everything through the wheel. Im speaking about small imperfections in the rode and concrete spaces, not necessarily the obvious potholes. I always had the level and the ride was fine. But now with the 34" hybrid mud tire, the ride is not good. Do I have options?

Did you go down in sidewall height? moving from an 18" wheel too?
You went to an LT tyre, much harder and heavier.
You went to a mud terrain hybrid, much narrower grip discipline and noisy tread pattern.
I have been reading this thread and seen several people make references to the FX4 and towing packages when asking questions about what kit to buy. I have been trying to determine what causes the current rake in my truck and how to combat it. Is there a definitive answer on what components combine to make up the rake of the truck, and if the FX4 and towing packages make a difference?
I have a 2019 Supercrew FX4 with the max tow package and my truck has more rake from the factory than almost any other that I have seen. Before I attempt to level it, I would like to know why. I know that the FX4 package has "off road" shocks but I don't believe that is adding any additional height to the rear. Do the max tow or trailer tow packages include shorter springs or struts in the front to increase the rake so that the truck stays level while towing?
I was originally planning on purchasing a set of Bilstein 5100s and installing them in the next-to-highest setting which I believe is supposed to be somewhere around 1.75", but I believe that my rake will still be too much after that...
