The Leveling Kit Thread
It's not that we're increasing preload... we already talked about that. I think the weight of the truck on the assembled strut (spring-over-shock) makes any preload of assembly nonexistant.
The reason suspension downtravel becomes more limited when the static ride height is increased is because then, at the new static ride height, the control arms are at a different angle to start with.

Huh, so are you talking about range of motion extension then? I can see that.
Your neutral/at rest/starting point is already further extended than stock, so it's not the extension limit that is curtailed, it's the range between rest and the extension limit? Is that right?

Awesome, now i get it
So here's the thing, probably not such a great idea going for the 2.25" lift then? as even on a 12th gen, it seems it would be a quarter inch more than "safe' ?

Should I consider buying the front 5100s first and then the rears later? I know it doesn't make a real difference I guess but would help me financially. 🤣 Unless the Stage 3 Motorsports deal for the kit is too good to pass on... They have the best deal on a full kit hands down from my research.
Dev, I would encourage you to save a little bit more and purchase Stage 3's front/rear package and install the whole shebang at one time.
You'll be really happy with it, I'm certain.
MadMaxx, why not ask some 12th Gen guys about where to set those? I'm fresh out of chatter.

Hey Bigpun! How're you doin'.
My reply was to fsudevin. He wants the 5100s.
5100s will turn an F150 into a sports sedan and the transformation is fantastic to experience. I kid you not.
6112/5160 best offroad, but small pavement irregularities will seem harsh. These need BIG impacts to start working in their zone.
For a truck that will not see any strenuous offroad, four Bilstein 5100s are PERFECT, and are excellent for light offroad duty.
