The Leveling Kit Thread
Not exactly. If you level via shocks you dramatically improve the truck’s approach angle, making it significantly more off-road worthy. You also end up with significantly better shocks for the truck. You also increase breakover angle to just about a stock Rubi. You can also fit 34s then without rubbing in full lock, dramatically changing the trucks off road capability. So I’d agree with the “just looks” conclusion if you are simply adding a spacer. But leveling via improved shocks is a totally different beast.
I get all that. In response to the person ask why...that's how I answered.
Gotta admit that a high percentage of people leveling a factory truck is for looks. Yes there are a lot of off road people too.
I'll level mine for looks. And the benefit is that I'll have a better approach angle but I personally am not the offroader that installs the level to get up a steeper pitch.
But yes, that was a nice clarification for the one that asked the question who wasn't sure 'why'.
Always good to hear different thoughts.
Hey guys I have a question and hope you can help.
I have a 2017 RWD F150 with a 2.5" RC spacer in the front. The ride quality is very stiff and not very jarred. I have an opportunity to buy the Bilstein 5100s and was wondering if I can use the RC spacer with these adjustable struts to maintain the +2.5" level that I currently have. All I am looking for is improving the ride quality and keeping the current height.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I've been searching around and am now thinking to get the motofab .5" spacer and max out the bilstein. Trying to see which would be the better option for ride quality.

I've looked at that spacer, and talked directly to MotoFab about it. It's actually 3/8" thick. I've never measured the 3 tophat bolts to see if they're long enough, something to keep in mind.
I was going to pickup the kit today locally but I am going to search around on the forum a bit longer to ensure I am able to clear my current setup.
Thanks for the quick response btw. I appreciate that.

No problem. You could set Bilstiens on a lower setting, and use a spacer to bring it up where you need it. I can't recall what settings are between .71, and 2.1.
Nothing at all. No rubbing of any sort. It’s the perfect combo. The ride of the kit is amazing.
Your truck looks@Wmflyfisher !! Mine will be similar when I get my tires. Speaking of tires, did you need to do any modifications to fit 285/65/20's with no rub? I have the same wheels and was considering that tire size but concerned about rubbing. Also, what did you do for level? I don't recall seeing it, but could have missed it if you posted.
TIA.
TIA.
