I have a wife and 4 kids so the amount of time I only want to unlock 1 door is limited. And really, unless I'm trying to keep carjackers out (also not very often), I don't care if all 4 and the tailgate unlock.
Frankly, I'm more irritated that the tailgate and other doors stay locked when I get out with the engine running. I find myself having to push the unlock button to let kids in when I stop at the school to pick them up, or walking back to the door to unlock the tailgate. Why can't there be an "unlock-on-park" type setting?
Ya, that kills me. Especially when I walk all the way around to open the door to take the kid out of the car seat and its locked and I have to walk all the way back around. 100X worse when she is screaming.
It is a little frustrating going from my BMW where everything can be custom coded through the DME, and the Audi where everything just works the way you want, to a truck that I paid MORE for and does not have everything ironed out.
I will say, it is seamless in how you can switch bluetooth audio sources. I have not owned a single Audi BMW or Porsche that has managed to figure that simple friggin task out. My wife's audi you have to turn the current source off, turn the car off and then back on again. It says it has connected to the new source.....but it hasn't. Thank you ford for managing the little things!
I agree with you. Just stepped out of an X5 where everything can be customized to your liking for 3 remotes ... But somehow, having fewer choices makes everything simple. And I like that. And the fact that large, massive, heavy load and towing is now part of my vocabulary
I was loading items into the bed last night and had to use the LED bed lights for the first time. Not only does the switch turn on the LED's in the bed and on the High Mounted Stoplight above the rear window, it also turns on the LED puddle lamps that shine down from the mirrors (I have the tow mirrors, I assume the std mirrors do this also). Add in the fact that you can click the switch for the mirror side spotlights and you have most of the area lit up around the truck for working in the dark. All without having the engine running and not draining much from the battery.
Am I correct in thinking there is a switch for the LED bed lights both in the cab and in the bed? If so is it like a 3-way switch, where I can turn them on in the bed but then climb in the cab and turn them off, or vice versa? Or is it strictly on/off from whichever location you started.
I ask because I plan to add LED light strips to the bed and was hoping it would be easy enough to just tie into the existing LED bed lights right there in the bed. That way the factory switches would control all of the bed lights, both factory and aftermarket. Am I making sense? It works perfectly in my head!

You are not wrong. On in the bed, off in the cab, or vice versa. Or on/off in a single location.
You should be able to do that. LED's pull so little current that the factory wiring should be sufficient to piggyback into them. I am planning on mounting some in the top of my tail gate so when the tail gate is down it illuminates the ground and surrounding area. I will add a toggle to these so I am not shining light straight up into the air when the gate us up or I dont want them on.
Maybe this is old news but I just received my Platinum yesterday and noticed a "Secret" Key fob hiding spot. I assume it's for the extra key fob to fix the somewhat annoying double honk issue when walking away from the running truck with the other key fob? Sorry if this is a repost.
Anybody know if the 40/20/40 style has something like this? I dont have the center console. I have the fold-able middle seat.
I have searched the forum, and could not find anything...
How do we stop the honking when you leave the truck running?
Also, my VW I was able to have the windows roll up and down with my key Fob, can we do this with the F150 also? I have a 2015 King Ranch.
This is not a VW this is a very expensive Ford truck so sorry no FOB window control.
You have to leave your spare FOB in the truck at all times if you wish to walk away with it running. You can lock truck with the keypad pushing the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time.
I've been flipping through this forum and came across a bunch of posts regarding the door locking stuff. My question: is there a way to disable the tailgate locking automatically from the fob? And is there a way to manually lock it (perhaps with that hidden key that locks the console that a previous poster found)? I basically don't want to have to unlock my entire truck every time I want to drop the tailgate, I'd rather deal with using a key to lock it separately whenever I have the need for that.
On a side note, I do not have my truck yet, (and won't for a few more months), but did go and test drive a couple today. (Until now I basically was set on getting one from looks only) Drove a 5.0 and a 2.7EB, they didn't have any 3.5s on the lot. All I can say is WOW to these trucks! I'm pretty much sold on the EB, nothing against the V8, but that turbo felt nice! Can't wait to try out a 3.5. Anyway this forum has been great for preparing me to blow endless amounts of cash when I get my new baby lol
