Hints, Tips and Tricks
Whew! I have nothing to add here other than this is my first post and I just powered through 94 pages of this thread in one sitting. The amount of information on here is significant. Thank you to all those who contributed.
I have mine on the center console stalk although the function should be the same.
With the car in drive (an rolling even);
first press - the gears illuminate with the current choice in RED.
second press - moves to next higher or lower available gear, releasing or locking out said gear.
So generally, you have to press it a couple of times to get things going.
I find this function really handy.
Around town, it keeps the car from upshifting to 4th, 5th or even 6th which controls speed(saves brakes!) and allows for quick acceleration when needed. It's convenient because the car will utilize the remaining gears as needed. This makes it WAY easier than M mode.
On the highway, you can downshift without accelerating. This comes in handy on some hills and saves gas.

Sounds right. Sorry, I don't use the M mode much. I find it more trouble than my 5sp manual LOL.

I've been offline a couple days - just getting back - So I put the truck in drive rolling slowly down the drive and I tapped the "-" sign once. Ya! I have all 6 gears back on my screen. Thanks.
Just one reason I don't mind having to use a key to start mine.
Yes they can. I not sure you can set the alarm while the engine is running. Assuming not then they can probably drive until they shut it off. Assuming that you can set the alarm then if they smash the window and get inside, then opening the door or movement within the vehicle should set it off. There is no window breaking alarm on the Ford security system.
