The passenger side seat is different... and MUCH easier. There is a strap on the side of the back of the seat. Just pull the strap. It's like that because the jack is stored behind that seat.
If you are still looking for the strap you pull to release the fold down mechanism for the 2016 SCAB driver's side rear seat, here is a picture. Note the strap is on the door side, a couple of inches from the headrest. It's much easier to find the second time!
I put a leather strap on top of this strap to bring it up above the seat back so I don't have to dig for it next time, but if you leave it as it is, it becomes a stealthy place to store things.
Mine doesn't have the nylon strap, just a small metal pin that is very difficult to open? I still cant get the passengers side to open either.
I have a new trick that I haven't seen yet. If you have one of the trucks with manual climate control, like mine, you don't have a software button for the climate control screen showing temperatures, airflow, etc on the big center dash LCD screen. But if you turn on Max AC, and then press the Recirc and AC buttons simultaneously, a "hidden" climate control screen comes up!
I don't know why this happens, it doesn't work every time, sometimes you have to mash the buttons. I'd managed to pull this screen up during a test drive, which made me think that the truck I was getting had dual climate control. Confused me when I got home and couldn't figure out how to pull up this screen again. I found it again by accident again this weekend. It has all of the buttons for dual temp etc, but they don't work of course. Obviously some sort of glitch, however it does show actual airflow, AC status, etc so it might be useful if you want to look at it on the LCD screen instead of down at the hardware buttons.
I just bought a 2016 XLT SCREW with the 302A pack a few days ago and noticed that the truck turns on recirculate by itself. I don't have auto climate control so I thought this was very weird. Your post explains helps to explain something that I can't find in the manual. It seems that if you have the 302A option package the manual climate control is actually semi automatic and all of the functions are actually controlled by the computer. It explains why the remote start options in the settings menu has the auto function for climate control even though it doesn't have auto climate control. Remote start is also part of the 302A package.
My guess is the temperature **** functions much the same as it does in the auto system. You tell the computer how hot or cold you want the air and it does what it needs to to meet your demand. It seems to be connected to the ambient light sensor, inside temperature sensor and outside temperature sensor just like the auto system. It only has control over temperature and fresh air/recirc, you manually control air direction and fan speed. During remote start it seems to have full control of all functions.
Another Ford forum for Escape owners posed a similar question and they concluded that the computer will automatically turn on recirculate when it is in panel and panel/floor when it's hot to increase A/C performance and also to reduce the load on the compressor for fuel efficiency. It will also automatically turn off recirc after 5 minutes if you turn it on and it's in the floor, floor/defog, and defog to prevent window fogging. None of this is in the owners manual.
Hey everybody. I did a post before introducing myself to the forum. I bought a 2016 XLT 5.0 SCREW in magnetic gray with the 302A pack, 3.55 E-Locker, tow package, navigation, center console and 20 inch wheels. It's my first truck, first Ford and I love it. I hope it gives many year and miles of trouble free service.
I had no problem getting the rear seat back to come down just like in the pictures above, but I can't seem to get it to lock back into place. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

I had the same problem with my left side seat back. The bar on the back wall of the truck moves up and down in its mount. Mine was slightly off so the catch would not grab the bar. Just line the bar up with he catch and it will lock back.
3.8? Maybe I looked in the wrong place, but I'm on 5.8. (Radio on, manually--of course, Menu/Sync Settings/System Info.)
I should look into the forscan tool. Frankly, I've looked at the sticky thread in this forum and it looks pretty intimidating, if for no other reason than that there doesn't seem to be a table of contents telling me what I can do and where to look for that.
In the FORSCAN thread, if you read all of the first post, you will see everything you can do with it. There is a spreadsheet at the end where all the findings are summarized. It is really easy to do if you follow the instructions. I have MFT (Sync 2). I have $60 in and have global window open/close, stereo on with the rest of the truck off, and temp gauges over the coolant and transmission temp. For another $50 for the A7 card, I activated the factory NAV.
If you have a habbit of driving with the defroster on in the winter, you might be wasting more gas than you think. The defroster turns on ac and elec fan just like any other car, BUT it also opens the active grill shutters. When the grill shutters are closed there is less drag, so use the defroster only when you need it.
