You're right, my mistake.
But in jm061's post he said "I decided to check different vehicle lines and found that some 16 Lincoln's with V1 were eligible for V2.2 upgrade on the dealer side"
So 2.2 is already an "official Ford release". It just hasn't been rolled out to all vehicles yet. It's almost certainly going to be unchanged when it finally is rolled out to our trucks unless some kind of showstopper bug is found and a whole new release has to be built and put through QA.

Does anyone know if the input voltage for the hub is 12v? I had sync 2 but installed sync 3 a few months back. I will be getting the hub with a new connector. I have to wire in the two wires to power (pin 1 and 4) I want to tap in to a good power supply rather than the thin wires my old sync 2 usb hub has.

Just changed my module, plugged in my phone, accepted a few Apple Carplay prompts and it's up and running. Module was really easy to change with the trim tools I had from Harbor Freight. I have a late build (9/26/16) Limited which already had Sync3 v2.0, I got the module from Ebay. Carplay works great. Thanks to ppl on this forum for catching this module and alerting us! My dealer still says, no word on update hardware.
Yes, it's 12 volts in. The hub module is made up,of two boards inside. The one boars has the 4 pin cable going into it, which is the power daughter card to the USB, converts the 12volts down to 5 volts. It connects via a pin jumper to the lower board that is the USB hub.

would you happen to know the polarity? There are only two pins used on the connector 1 and 4.
