I guess he means the issues with the manual update process not with the software itself. This release (SYNC 3 v2.2) +is+ the official Ford release and is already installed on late 2016 and all 2017 models. And as you say, any issues/bugs will likely still be there when Ford makes it available as an update for vehicles with v1.0.

Walt Sweeney hub arrived today after order on Friday. Removal was more than trivial (bench seat, no center console) but I got it out with minimal scratching. New one popped in with no issues. CarPlay works flawlessly. I'm pleased. Thanks for the update!

Yes, Android Auto works. I don't have an i product to test ApplePlay.
I will say what doesn't work is my USB laptop hard drive (which I keep all my music on). It used to work just fine on my Sync 2 system in my F150 I traded in.

 

Totally different underlaying OS (QNX) on the Sync3 system. I've used a large (64GB & 128GB) USB flash drives without issue. The indexing can take a really long time on a large drive.

 

So I thought I read somewhere in this thread that the 2.2 update would only work with 1.0 or 1.1. I guess that means upgrading from 2.0 isn't an option until Ford pushes the release?

 

I just tried the update. Everything looked normal through folder one and two. I got a message saying installation was complete but when I removed the drive I got a message saying the drive had been changed or removed and installation has been halted. I reinserted it and nothing happened so I turned the truck off and and will see what happens later.

 

Seemed to work. Scared the crap out of me when I went to check it and the display remained black and no radio, it took a minute or two to come up.

 

Another successful update here. v1.0 to v2.2 with factory Nav.
Had a little department grill-out at the office, so I let the truck run the update while we were grilling some 20oz porterhouses.
Let it sit while we ate & all looks perfect afterward.

Does anyone know if the input voltage for the hub is 12v? I had sync 2 but installed sync 3 a few months back. I will be getting the hub with a new connector. I have to wire in the two wires to power (pin 1 and 4) I want to tap in to a good power supply rather than the thin wires my old sync 2 usb hub has.
