Current SYNC 3 and CarPlay/Android Auto Information
Got it all installed on my non-nav version, this is rad! It may take a few on/off cycles to get everything fully working.
Shiny new boot screen

Confirmed v2.2

For AndroidAuto users, go to the AA specific menu and enable it.

This screen will come up asking to continue, make sure to allow permissions on your phone as well so Sync can access it

First loading of AA

As a bonus, some of you may notice that spotify or some other app you may have modded for whatever reason, will not show up, but there is a work around, it does not require root, but does require you to install the android sdk, and reinstall the app using this method:

Also everyone WATCH THE ROAD, don't kill yourself, your family, or others because you were messing with Android Auto/Carplay. Use voice commands.

OP seems to know his stuff, he specifically said non-nav firmware. Do not flash this to a nav apim, last time I messed with ford computers was in 2006 but generally in computers it's retarded to flash/install something that was compiled for different thing, at least not without porting the code over.
Just out of curiosity does anyone know if you can hook a iPhone up via bluetooth to use the phone functions and an andriod to android auto for music and mapping. Reason I ask is I have both and much prefer google maps over apples.
I am very much interested in this update but my only concern is this: If I update my 2016 f-150 sync 3 v 1.0 to 2.2 will I be able to receive future updates from Ford or will I have to rely on the generosity of others to get my updates?
