How do you do map updates when you install like this? I know in the old vehicles there was an SDCard slot, but how does it work when you do an "aftermarket" upgrade like this?

Had one replaced under warranty. Now that one has failed. Now I’m out of warranty. The Tesla style radio just started looking a lot better.

Add me to the list of early 2016 APIM failures. No bluetooth, wonky GPS navigation, steering wheel controls sometimes work, screen goes blank and sometimes hangs up. Funny thing is the Sync has always done random goofy stuff like this and only now has reached the point of it being constant and a problem.I have not had the truck to Ford yet but based on what I have read on here my APIM is likely shot.

I am at the end of my lease and was debating on just turning the truck in or buying it out. I am at 45k miles and out of warranty and had a 36k mile lease so I am going to get hit with a $2500 mileage penalty. I had planned to just buy out the lease until this APIM issue popped up in the last two weeks. I had a nice deal on a new 2019 Abyss Gray 502a Lariat Sport that I was going to buy but just found out I can not get the two month early bird lease with the 72month zero percent . This means I am now taking a $3700 hit on my truck so I am back to fixing the APIM and buying out the truck lease and maybe trading it in on the new 2021 when they release them.

So I am considering purchasing from the ebay seller listed on this thread and installing the new unit. Any feedback on people who have actually done this would be appreciated.

I would go the route of buying an APIM off of Ebay, I think 400 to 500 is better then 3700.00. Heck, you might be able to find an APIM flashed and running 3.4 instead of 3.0. On a different note, I am surprised the dealership can't make it work.

My salesman is the same guy I leased my last 3 trucks from and bought my wife Ford Edge from so I have been dealing with him for many years now and he is the actual sales mgr at the dealership. In otherwords he typically gives me a pretty good deal, we still haggle some but he is very straight up with me. The problem is the incentives and goofy Ford Credit programs, but something tells me that will change December 16th when my lease is actually up so I am not done with them just yet lol.

I ordered the APIM from the guy on ebay so hopefully that fixes that issue. I actually really like this truck and dont mind buying it out from the lease. It is a super cab Ruby red 3.5 eco 501a with a bunch of options. The residual is fair for what they are selling for so I am not going to take to much of a hit if I keep it for another year or two. Plus I would like to start modding it anyway, warranty is up so why not right lol!

What are the benefits of 3.4 over 3.0? I believe I will get one with 3.0 or at least be able to update it to 3.0 once its installed?

Updated Maps (NA 1.18) and the UI looks nice, on second thought I would stick with 3.0 because you also need to flash your ECU in the truck or some of the feature of version 3.4 will not work correctly. If you know anyone else at the dealership, you might need to update the new APIM's serial number in Oasis so if you every want to get new maps you can.

Do some Googling or ask somebody here to run the APIM Serial No. to ensure it's indeed NAV ready before you install it. I just got burned on an Ebay "Nav" APIM.

I have a 2018 F150, with the same issue, the dealer has ordered a new Apim module for my truck. Did this correct your issues?
