If I download the software from ford does this count as a official download or do I have to bring it to a dealer and have them do it? Also are the any new updates on this system

I no longer have working cameras except for the OEM Back-Up Camera. My SYNC was factory updated to 3.0...Does Camera Source or Rostra have software for this or am I screwed?

Unfortunately the 250-8453 Rostra module is only compatible with SYNC version 2.2. If you have the Rostra module please ensure that your auto-update feature is turned off so that the truck does not install a new SYNC version before Rostra finishes the firmware update. Does the dealer update the radio during a service appointment? If so, it's important to specifically tell them that you don't want the update unless you have personally checked compatibility with your specific Rostra interface hardware. Also keep in mind there are two different hardware versions floating around; 250-8452 for SYNC prior to 2.2 and 250-8453 for Sync 2.2. The two versions/interfaces are not intercompatible.

We are doing what we can to put pressure on Rostra. We are not involved in the programming, development, or manufacturing of this interface module so sadly we cannot tell you exactly what is taking so long. We will continue to call Rostra to let them know about all of our frustrated customers and hope that they accelerate the process but I realize that doesn't provide any immediately help. It seems the auto-update feature is posing a real challenge for them and the firmwares are getting more complicated, making it more difficult to keep up than it has been in previous generation vehicles. Rest assured they will have a solution and I hope it is in the near future.

I have reached out to our Rostra rep to see if he has an update and I'll post something here when I hear back.

Husker, I also had the same issue with loss of all camera from the Rostra Module. I called them and was able to negotiate a replacement module. The new module works outside the sync system almost completely. You hold down the voice button for three seconds for it to pop up for adjustments. It seems to work most of the time. I have had the dreaded black screen a couple of times, but it works itself out on a restart usually. I hate to say it, but I am sorry I went down this road for the money spent. The new version also seems to lower the resolution of the cameras. If possible, I would get in touch with them any way you can and hope their newer version is better.

I have this Module installed--> 250-8453 is it what ya replaced? Also, I went from 2.2>2.3>3.0.
Yep, I'm always fiddling with the system...Camera Source contacted me. They're also waiting to hear from Rostra, as am I!!!
