Adding Front Camera to XLT
First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Now, back to the thread...
Am I the first one with a 2016 (Lariat, with PTBA, Sync3) to try the camera source module ?
So far, I have noted two issues that I have that did not seem to have surface yet...
(I'll be reporting them also to camera-source and I'll update here afterwards)
My truck is a 2016, Lariat and I have the "Pro Trailer Backup Assist" feature, which mean that I have an IPMB module, but not the one that support the 360 degre OEM camera system.
I have two issues thus far with the camera-source module
OEM-BACKUP-Camera while in motion
Activating the "manual mode" to display the backup camera does not work while in motion above 10 Km/h (approx). The screen stays in "camera-mode" but there is no video feed. As soon as the vehicle speed drops down to below 10 Km/h, the video come back.
I'm guessing the camera-source module is not "triggering" the IPMB module or it is not overriding its "speed limitation" and since the IPMB module is "before" the camera-source module in the chain to the screen, the IPMB received the vehicle speed directly, thus disabling the video feed.
PRO TRAILER BACKUP ASSIST
Activating the PTBA function, while in PARK or DRIVE does not change the screen to "camera-mode".
I need to enter manual mode to force the screen to activate the backup camera with PTBA on. I have not hooked up any trailer, but everything looks like it should work, its just that the screen is not "auto-activating" when I turn on PTBA.
I'm guessing (again) that a signal sent from the IPMB (which controls the PTBA) is sent to the screen but it is received by the camera-source module and not forwarded to the screen.
The rest of the system looks like it is working properly; front, sides, and reverse backup camera operation with sensors, etc.
I have also modified my hardness to be able to swap backup camera and that is working very well. I have done no permanent installation yet because I dont have access to a garage at present time so I have only hooked up the system with all the camera spread across the dash and I have used an old Realistic two way RCA video switcher to test out swapping the backup camera for a second one and that part works flawlesly.
If any of you guys (or girls...) have installed the camera-source system in a 2016, please indicate your trim level and equipment and if you have experience a similar situation so we can compare notes.

I have a 2016 Lariat w/ PTBA and a camera source front camera installed. I've been able to activate manual mode at highway speeds. I have not used PTBA so I can't help with your second issue. The only 'bug' I've noticed is that if i quickly shift from reverse to drive, the system often doesn't recognize the gear change and won't display the front camera image.
I installed the front camera kit on my 2016 XLT (without PTBA). Same issue for me with being unable to activate the video feed at faster speeds. If I activate "camera mode" when stopped, the video feed will stay on even as I accelerate to faster speeds. However if I'm already at highway speeds, holding down the radio power button won't activate the video feed.
Stupid question (I know) but have y'all check the dip switches and made sure they're off-on-on-on?
I find it very interesting that y'all with 2016s are having issues. Sounds like the extra channels for the trailer backup thing is causing issues with the on-demand camera views. Also, on the "bug" when you shift really quick between anything and D, my image also sometimes shows a delay or wont display the rear camera. It does take a second or so for the system to activate and do its thing. I've done this with and without the camera-source system.

When I open everything up again I'll take a look at the dip switches, but I checked the positions a lot during the install. For me it's not an issue since I only plan on using the camera at slow speeds. But mine isn't affected by the trailer back up assist.
The only thing that very slightly annoys me is when switching into reverse, the screen will flash a few times (showing an image of a truck diagram like the one that shows in reverse view) before showing the feed from the OEM rear camera. Any one else have this?
Overall it's a great system!

You see a small rectangle containing the overview of the truck with what looks like the backup sensors, it is zoom in quite fast and then the camera is shown.
I have noticed a third issue this afternoon...
Interference with navigation
I had noticed weird things occuring with navigation yesterday while visiting family for the new year and I tried to diagnose those further this afternoon...
On the highway, going mostly straight with the truck, GPS, compass, and navigation maps were spot on.
Now, I activate either a turn signal or manual mode so that the camera-source module "activate"...
Afterwards, for a few seconds I could see the GPS positions going backward on the screen! After a few seconds, it stopped, but by then it had lost its position and was kind of not properly reference and not going into the proper direction.
After maybe 30 seconds perhaps, GPS and compass manages to get back on track and sync up properly with navigation maps.
I have been able to reproduce this at will.
It would seem like the module is producing interference with the GPS antenna and compass or something like that. I tried changing the module location but it didn't change anything.
I know that I hear a "clicking" sound coming from the module when it activate, maybe a relay of some sort, maybe it is this relay coil that is producing interference with the compass...
I will have to take out the module out of the system and see if everything is back to normal, but this is very annoying.
Next time I open up the dash, I may also try to isolate to module in some aluminum foil...
Anybody else with OEM navigation having this kind of scenario with the camera-source module.
(I'll try to make a video out of it in the coming days...)

ajean,
I did some further testing today. I can activate manual mode at any speed and the front camera will always work, but the rear camera will be a black screen and will only display below ~7mph. When I first enter manual mode, the screen is blank when above 7mph since the rear camera displays first, but a quick radio button press will display the front camera. Sounds similar to your problem and I'm guessing that's just how the system works.
I also have navigation and I too was able to replicate your interference problem almost every time I tried. Bummer. After leaving manual mode, when the nav map popped back up, the GPS position would be off by about 100 meters. It would correct itself after 20-30 sec. By the way, I hear the clicking too when the cameras engage.
The camera source module is not a flawless solution, but overall I'm very happy with both their customer service and products. I still think it's a great setup and would definitely recommend it.
