I'll stop there as to not spoil the surprise.

I got home today and a box was waiting for me! It does look like a good quality kit. I won't get to do anything until the weekend, so I'll spend some time this week doing homework, (and waiting on TF) before I install or post any details. I got the kit for the non OE front camera. Now that I have it, I wouldn't mind changing my grill (again) to use the kit with the OE camera. Especially if I end up having to remove it either way. I'll get a better look at my existing grill in the daylight tomorrow and decide if I want to use the after market camera or not.

The side cameras are much smaller than I thought they would be. They will fit nicely under the mirrors.

Looking forward to getting this thing in!

So if I understand this correctly Sync 3 w/ OE reverse cam will work with this module, though it won't be a 360 camera as it uses the one input at a time, so you can only see front, rear, or one side at a time? You are tricking the computer into thinking that the rear camera needs to be enabled by turning on the radio. The computer will display what ever camera is currently feeding into the reverse cam input?

It seems ford really should have made their systems more modular

Just checking, but I am assuming we could not buy the OEM mirrors with Cameras and wire those into this system instead of adding cameras?

You just described the OEM 360. This one from camera-source does not work this way. You select one video input at a time. The OE rear camera works the same, it uses a channel as bypass.

And OE manufacturers only make engines modular. In the case of the video system, its a single system that goes in all F150s. A different system goes in all Explorers (for example). So in a sense, its modular in that one ecosystem works in all platforms for a specific model.

Trying to make everything modular in the sense of having all cameras fit all cars in their lineup would be cost-prohibitive.

Why do you say that ?

Assuming OEM camera are standard composite video signal, I think it could be possible to use them into this module ???

But that remains to be tested...

I believe that the OEM side mirror camera would route through the modules for BLIS. If you already have this, then getting this aftermarket kit would not be necessary. Although I could be incorrect as I do not have BLIS.

However, a mirror that does not have the OEM camera would have the location in the mirror where this one could be mounted, as mentioned by TexasFording in an earlier post.

I have tow mirrors with BLIS, power fold, power extend.

But I do not have the camera.

On tow mirrors, the mirror base plate that attached to the door is different. So in this case, you need to change the mirrors...

Or drill on the location camera-source did, at the end of the housing farthest from the body of the truck. From a cursory glance at the mirrors, I think you'll have space to do so since the lower (convex) mirror is not powered and so reason says there is no motor or anything behind it to take space.

Here:

EDIT: oops, too small
