I think I'm misunderstanding here... I think the screens that are in the pics on their site that show the physical ***** for the heat/ac are for trucks with the Phoenix screens that have AUTO heat/ac and they have to stay as such, but the trucks that have MANUAL heat/ac (like mine does up in my pics I posted), then I make that selection (manual ac) along with my sync 3 selection which gets me the full screen that will eliminate my factory heat/ac ***** and controls and then just displays them on the screen right?

I just ordered the new 7.1 Fast Boot version for my 2016 XLT 302A. I'm not entirely thrilled by having to move the Hazard/360 Cam/TC/HDC buttons to the top of the bezel facing up, but it's a trade off as I definitely like getting to keep my physical AC controls at the bottom. If only they could figure a way to keep the physical volume **** now...

On another note, since the new version keeps all of the OEM Sync and radio modules, this unit doesn't look like it gives RCA pre-outs like I believe the older unit did.

I'll post back once I receive and install my unit and see how it all works.

I went ahead and bought the Phoenix gen 3 7.1 fast boot kit yesterday. I have an aftermarket amp/sub that I use the factory sub harness with activated through Forscan as well as aftermarket pillar tweeters, center channel speaker, 6x9’s in the front doors and 6.5’s in the rear doors with no amp. They should be able to handle the added 45-50x4 the tablet puts out.

Regardless of auto a/c or manual a/c, you get physical the *****. The gen 3 model has the ***** regardless of what a/c you have.

The gen 2 version does not have ***** regardless of a/c type. ***** are not part of gen 2.

The gen 2 and gen 3 both offer "digital" a/c on screen regardless of your oem a/c type.

Screen size regardless of gen 2 or gen 3 is the same. Going with the unit that doesn't have physical a/c controls present will not give you a bigger screen.

Wait - where do you say the buttons move? The hill descent control, auto start stop etc. - those buttons.

They get moved to the top of the bezel and face upwards for the most part because they moved the display screen up so that the AC ***** had space. The bezel has 3 holes for buttons and includes blanks in case you don't have 3 to populate it with.

pretty tempted to get this gen 3 now. now that it has the AC controls at the bottom. i do like the carplay function. looks like we need to buy a separate module to retain it. anyone have experience with it? its a $96.99! where will it go if we are able to retain factory usb?

our truck has sync 3. if we can retain the usb factory module, it already has carplay so it should still work?

Thanks. Now I paid more attention to the description and the videos. And the seats heating is now retained as well, apparently, since hard buttons stay in place?

Yeah, that entire section of buttons gets transferred to the new bezel.

I'm curious as to whether this unit truly has an amplifier for the speakers built in or not since it retains so much of the OEM stuff. I know it claims 4x50w or whatever but I'm not sure if that's true.
