Does anyone know if this unit requires a fully functional APIM? I'be got a 2018 thats already crapping out but isn't bad enough to replicate for the dealer, it works fine 60 to 70% of the time. I see all the other APIM issues and rather than replacing it to fail again would like to replace the unit or look for alternatives. It looks like the sync 3 passthrough is optional correct? So if the apim ceases to function would the phone connectivity, navigation and sound all work from the tablet?

The new model uses the existing apim so you'd want to get your apim replaced.

You can get the current gen one from Phoenix as it replaced whole system. Keeps everything (steering controls and all) except for sync voice. I just us OK Google.

So this is the one I want I think for my 2017 XLT with manual AC controls I believe, 8" screen and Sync 3. My factory USB ports should still work right? Is the link posted a Gen 3? How do I tell which gen it is?

OK.. is there a Gen 3 that has the digital heat/ac controls in the screen for a manual ac controls? Do they say if they are a Gen 2/3 in the descriptions anywhere.. I dont see that stated?

All gen's have digital a/c controls but the controls will always be manual a/c due to the hardware in your truck. Personally, physical a/c controls will be better than digital just because you don't have to look down while on the road and mess with a/c screen. You can change by feel. Again, my opinion. I would strongly recommend gen 3 regardless.

I agree.. I want the gen 3 regardless, I just have no idea if Im getting the digital or physical ac controls or what "option" decides that..

The gen 3 has both digital and physical buttons. Not sure what you are asking.

You need to select the options for your truck:
Manual a/c
Sync 3
