Default This is soooo weird!!

I got a 1989 f150 (302,5 speed,4x4)

The motor will only rev up to 3200 rpms no matter if there is or isnt a load on a motor. When it hits 3200 rpms it sounds exactly like a rev limiter, and if you hold it to the floor it makes this noise and quickly back fires., but can not get it over 3200 rpms.

Im not sure if its fuel or electrical issue?

Has anyone heard of this happening?

if making a video on it would be easier i can tommorow morning if I can on here?

please give any advice you can thanks!

Uhh im not to familiar with the 302 engine but very sure that 3200rpms is kind of high it probably is the Governor.

my bad the limiter shout be at around 5000-5300rpms not 3200rmps. does it run well any erratic idle or codes?

3200RPM is nothing, i have cars/trucks that cruise down the highway at that RPM.

Bad gas or plugged fuel filter is my guess.

well i have a I6 the idle speed is 600 so 3200rpm in my truck is a tad high.

There is a governor so to speak, but speed based. The ECU backs out timing advance. Not applicable here.
