I just got back from work, i wanted to see if it would clear up if i just held it out a little longer in 2nd gear and it sounds exactly like its running out of fuel, so im going to take the front and back fuel tank out of my 95' 4x4 because the fuel pumps arnt even 6 months old and see what happens. also im going to put in the new fuel filter. this 89' Im having the problem with has been sitting for 2 years. hopefully this is my problem. Ill switch out the tps to while im working on it.

thanks for the input everyone.

also Im having troubles with my t-case.. it will only going into 2h and 4h no neutral or 4l... think it will just be easier to pull one from wreck for $75.oo then pull it apart?

Soooooo...

Please correct me if I am wrong..you're gonna take 4 fuel tanks out total of 2 trucks to MAYBE diagnose and repair 1 fuel pump that you're not sure is the issue??? Did I read that incorrectly? You know it could be many different things. Lots of little crappy relays and switches in a dual tank setup to short out, it could be a clogged air filter for that matter...it could be a short in the 20 year old harness... It could be ANYTHING! Maybe I'm just lazy but the very first thing I would do is get a Haynes book and a code reader and start counting beeps/flashes before I got the toolbox out...I would put a voltmeter on the pump connector before i pulled anything for starters.

Just a thought. You might want to get that sorted out before you pull the trans case...lol.

Old Fords sure are fun huh?

I already told you, '87-'89 have a different fuel system. You can't use the '95 fuel pumps.
