That POS nut that Ford put on the front shocks is a real joy. Forgot about how much I don't love that nut until your experiences you've shared.

Drivers turns the diff, pass is free wheeling.

I had my buddy take off the PTM grille from my parts rig today for lil Red. Going up to his place tomorrow and pick it and the front bumper. I decided that I was going to paint match it and install a grille mount led bar in the grille mesh. We'll see how that turns out. lol

The front nut I am referring to is the one that is welded onto a "stop". Didn't know that was how it was the first time I changed them, and really thought I'd broke my finger when it whipped around with my impact. On the top nut on the front.... I've just started cutting the top of the shock off with a sawzall now.

The rears..... yeah, big PITA all around. Really **** poor design. Gotta use an open end wrench the whole way on top.

Ouch on the finger, I did something like that with the impact recently as well. Waited a bit for the pain to subside, when it didn't, removed the glove....ewww.

I ended up snapping the top of the shock post off the rears, the original shocks way back when. I had some kind of cheater on a 10mm wrench...I remember the cussing, then relief after a loud snap. lol

I'm thinking it will look great, AK,especially considering who's doing it.

I didn't run into anything like that, White. Are you talking about the bottom mount? I could see where having a nut welded to that ear could actually be a good thing. I wonder if that's a 97-98-ish thing?

Not sure, but both of mine have it. If the later trucks don't have it, I think I figured out why, lol. It would have been fine, had they given it a tab and a hole for it to reside. But the way it is, it has to flip about 320 degrees to "catch", and that is how I slammed my finger with it.
