Yep. I have blue, red and green. Had some low-strength purple at one time, too.
THIS CHART shows all their various stuff and where/when to use it. Definitely a wide range of products.

I checked everything over last evening, and all is tight. Seems to me I recall hearing that pop once or twice in the past as well. Eh, maybe I'll follow the path of others here on the forum and "just keep throwing parts at it until it stops."

Actually, with closer to 180K on the OEM suspension, a freshening-up is probably a good idea anyway.

Dumb question but did you check your sway bar links? Last time I had an intermittent noise I had one cracked that was making noise... then when I fully broke I definitely got a clunk lol

I had the same thing happen on the '99, so not a dumb question. These seem fine, though. I'm going to replace the UCA's in the next couple of weeks, so I'll give everything a good looking-at again then.

Question: How precisely can one get the UCA's back into their original positions? I plan to use a silver Sharpie to mark the bolt head locations. Should I be able to get them back into position sufficiently to avoid the need for an alignment, or an I stuck with having one done afterward?

If you do replace the end links, I highly recommend Moog's. They are way better than the POS factory design. I had to get a Sawzall to remove my originals.... what a joy.

I used Moog on the '99.

Thinking shocks while I'm at all this. (What the hell, might as well spend *all* my money at once, right?) :rolleyes"

Fox is highly regarded, I know, and are $480 for the set. Bilsteins are no slouch, either, and I can get a 5100/5125 set for $330. A local 4x4 shop I checked for pricing (and whom I trust) says they see more warranty claims on Fox vs. Bilstein. Bilstein doesn't have a 5100 for my 2" torsion-bar crank. The 5125's are the same, but are considered general-purpose rather than application-specific, and are generally applied to custom suspensions, so these carry only a 90-day warranty.

Based on THIS WRITEUP and other info I've found, I'm leaning toward the Bilsteins at the moment, but any real-life comparisons or experiences you gents would like to share would be appreciated.

Over here roasting chile's.... smelled nice and spicy, even had some tears forming. Just had a taste.... damn things aren't any hotter than a green pepper.

Don't know much about Bilstein vs. Fox.... but I do know a lot of Fox owners that swear by Bilsteins. Seems like it's a Bilstein vs. Tokico there though, lol.

I can tell you though that I have been really, really impressed with my Monroe OE Spectrums. Think I'll actually wind up using those on the Fox too.

Compared to the Bilsteins I had previously (the 4600's I believe) , no I don't agree with article, it wasn't that way with the 98 f150. To explain, there is very little crank on the bars now and a 1.5" block lift in the rear. It's pretty level, maybe a tad higher in the rear but not enough to bother me. The Billsteins ride good, but ONLY if you 0 crank on the T-bars. Crank the bars with those shocks and you'll be eating front end components on these trucks. You'll also be smoking the shock bushings, the bottom always goes first, splits in two.. That's because the 4600's are designed for factory ride height with very little tolerance. Of course, none of that matters if your sticking to the factory pre-sets. Personally, I never liked the original height/stance of the 150's. FOX are designed for factory height plus 2 which is more than perfect for manipulating ride height. And since you do can this in a way were it will have minimal affect on the front end and ride, the option became desirable.

Cornering, Bilsteins don't so much as compare to Fox. Those windy onramps, well, all the crap on the dash doesn't end up between pass door and seat getting up to speed. Foxs shock can corner, very little cheek spread powering through. Bumps and chucks, with Biltiens you feel them, with Fox your hear them...enough said. These trucks aren't Cadillac's, never have been, so what else is there to focus on ? Fox shocks definitely dominate Bilstiens, you get what you pay for here and those bonuses shine imo.

But hey, any new shock will get grandma to church. The roads around here MI are always in need or work, they get abusive. I'd rather the shock take the majority of that and keep the coffee in the cup. Basing your needs on the terrain/roads your faced with normally is probably the way to go. They get rough around here. Also, if future or present front end manipulation (factory pre-sets) is in the cards, could be a determining thought. Fox not only meets the demand, they look damn good on these trucks.

Good luck Ohio

Thanks for the detailed reply, Brew. I know you're a Fox fan,and it sounds like there's good reason. Yeah, the 4600's don't seem to hold their water. The 5100's and 5125's are what im considering, and they are designed for the 2" of lift. The 5100 vs. Fox 2.0 debate seems to be well-heeled, with fans on both sides. I don't know if there's a clear winner (and application - Jeep vs. Tacoma vs. F150 - plays into the mix as well). You're right, though, either one will be light-years ahead of the RS5000's o have on there now.

White: FWIW, I have Tokiko Illuminas on my '95, and couldn't be happier. Folks seem to like the Blues on the Fox platform, too. But if you like those Monroes then who am I to argue?
