Last night I installed an Intel AC-7260 Wifi adapter/card in my laptop because the Qualcomm would not see my new router. Wow! My speed has increased immensely as well. I didn't realize what a bottleneck my old adapter was.

Back to the question on Lubegard. We were talking Green, but when I just got the bottles, they are for 98 and up using Mercon V. Going on to their website, it says that I should use red with the 4R70W in my 98 that says Mercon on the stick. No mention of V. I haven't used this since the 90's so I have little current experience. So I want RED, right?

 

Your still using Merc V ? Tisk tisk lol. I wouldn't touch that stuff.

Why not use a formulation that doesn't need any help. I know I won't use the cheap stuff in the trans..not anymore anyway.

 

I got turned off on Amsoil. Their product may be good, but the whole thing is a big PITA. I looked into it a couple months ago, and it's pretty much like Avon for men. Have to find a dealer, or pay to become a dealer.... I don't like playing games. I just want to change my damn trans fluid. So I used the Valvoline Synthetic on 3 of my 5 vehicles. Will be changing the 4R70W in the F150 to Valvoline as well.

 

Flushed the heater core and potentially flushed the engine too?? I'm not sure and now I am really confused. Didn't flush straight at the core as I could not get the hoses off (clips were inaccessible the way they were put on) pulled off the inlet hose where it connected to the engine and hooked that up to a drain hose. Pulled off the outlet hose where it plumbed into another hose that went to the water pump and plumbed water in there. However that hose had a T in it and I thought the small hose at the T was a vacuum hose but when I went to flush out the core, I got some crud but 5seconds later clear water came out.... AND clean water was coming out of both places I removed the hoses from. So I'm guessing that little hose wasn't just a vacuum hose? Drained the radiator cz I thought I diluted everything: only got about 1 gal out, owners manual says 2.63gals... and it tested to -55 so it must've been more antifreeze than water. So in conclusion... no clue where all that water went that I flushed into the system... no clue why I did not get 2.63 gals when I drained the radiator, and heat still doesn't work... what a fun 6 hour day. Everything's back together, drove it, temp is still fine heat still isn't. I can tell a difference from cold to hot when using the controls

 

No Brew, I have Dex/Mer in my trucks, both 98. That is what the dipsticks both required so that is what they get. I asked Whitey about Dex/Mer III and it could be used. Then later we talked about Lubegard, which I used earlier in my time, lol. The green was always what I used for Ford, but today when I got the stuff in the mail, it didn't read right.

The new bottles basically say for Merc V applications. Then looking more, after Whitey's data sheet above, it says and shows a different bottle and it reads the information in big bright wording. I looked harder and in very small print, it says "enhances Dex/Merc III to operate like Merc V" . Hmmm.

 

Are you serious? It's kind of sad seeing someone like you that much in the dark.
Dealers are plentiful, so are the deals. Around here anyway I guess. All the Carquests have it, as well as the tire shops. We don't do Avon around here, but that sort of hints what you might go for.

It's the best you can do for these transmissions. I've had to flush the trans just once in the 98 since Amsoil and the analysis always comes back great. What's great is never having to mess with the trans fluid.
