What would you like to know? I live in SC and I am in NC in Charlotte a few times a year.

Rusted vehicles are just not something I want to deal with. Another factor is the weather, seems to be a bit more tame than Ohio with their big winter storms.

Would you consider Raleigh a good place to raise a family? I haven't looked much into schools, although I'm sure they would be better than the ones here in NM.

Also, NC looks to be beautiful country!

I dont know about nowadays, but in the late 80's Carolina Power and Light had many power plants in the Carolinas- and hired skilled tradesmen quite often- might check out their website, if your job offer dont go through.

Thanks buddy, I would really only move if the job was set in stone. It's a long ways to pack everything and move. If I do get out of the drilling industry though, I'll probably focus more on an "education" of some kind.

Raleigh is a nice place. Not a super urban setting like Charlotte but still has lots of traffic. Definitely not a bad place to live. The mountains are close by but there are no real long winding back woods roads like you are used to in NM. No real salt trouble that I know of for vehicles.

It is beautiful country out there. In Raleigh you could drive out to the Outer Banks for some of the best beaches in America that you can drive on or head up around Asheville in the fall to the blue Ridge Parkway.

That sounds pretty sweet. I think we will like it there, my wife is a country girl at heart and hates neighbors and super urban settings. Me, well I just like making money, being happy and enjoying my family. As far as back roads, my white truck will be getting set up for overland type adventures. Eventually I will explore places like Alaska, Moab UT, Ouray CO and places like that.

I hear you man. Just let me know if you end up out this way and need a hand. If I'm in the area I would be more than happy to help.

No problem. I was in denver a couple weeks ago and I was really surprised how short money went out there. A house in denver for 500k is a decent house but in NC that is close to mansion status right outside Raleigh.
