I haven't found a cheaper place for that stuff over the years. Just ordered 100' of 4/4 for myself. It's the stuff to get if you need portable cord. It'll coil up real small. The 100' I just ordered is the same way, except,-I won't be able to lift it once it's coiled up lol. Damn stuff is heavy...only because it's 4/4. They have many sizes/configurations.
Thank you very much Brew. I'll be doing this the right way.

Speaking of SOOW.... I found a cord at work missing the ground prong yesterday. I acquired a new Hubble end, and went to put it on. I cut the sheathing off and found this mess below. Needless to say, this entire cable is replaced.

Right, got too hot. Not the wires fault. No ground didn't help (no where to surge to), but it looks like they do (brittle and cracking) when an electric motor has a hard time starting, -end of life thing. No ground may have cooked it as well.

They can get to a certain temp under the right conditions to suck the life right out of the insulation. I think they call that a granny face ? Iduno, may have just made that up.

Btw - the wire itself looks good. Many times the copper will blacken aw well. Happens more on DC current I guess. Redone my trailer harness on the truck and the copper had blackened/burnt back there...cut it back a little further I guess.

Ak, Jbrew is trying to flatter you cz with you gone its up to him to service the entire 10th gen forums with his knowledge and that's A TON of work lol between the two of you I think y'all know just about everything there is to know with these trucks. Heck I'd trust y'alls opinions over most shops these days. That's why I always come to this forum first when issues arise.

Edit* don't get me wrong, there's plenty of other knowledgeable users I respect as well (a lot in this thread which is why I frequent this one often), but y'all stick out in everyone's mind I'm sure

No problem. I know where you can get some good plug ends and receptacle ends in 30 and 50 amp as well. If your making a portable cord. Those were hard to find, - if you need one anyway. Amazon and e bay sellers don't sell them, just cheap cheap imitations. So if you need something like that...

I don't think he would do that to me, do you? AK's a little nicer (okay a lot) or not so cut throat I guess, you might say. Someone said once, -take everything jbrew says with a grain of salt. Never quite got that...do I taste bad or something, or look like a horse?

That whitegt guy is starting to stick it...or stick out I mean.

Brew....does that make you a salt lick? LOL.

I won't desert you Brew, I'm just not going to go to many of the new threads and offer much advice anymore, at least for a while. At least I still get quite a few emails for the Mustang forums I'm on and have posted there. I answer 2-3 questions a week that are in my inbox.

Perhaps it meant take everything I say with a shot. I recall one particular shot where you lick salt before downing it. Or do you salt lick after ? Nah, that's the FeeFee's responsibility AFAIK...yup, salt licker, -I looked before.

Or take everything I say with a horse lick...? REALLY?

Well that great! I backed off awhile ago. White and a few others are great with this stuff as well. Boy can I tell when whites holding back lol.

But yea, hard giving to a site when SOME people that who supposedly help run it ignore the new guy with the runs (bad language) only to take a shot at you. It's blatantly clear, they're not here to clean it up at all. Threads with name calling incidents don't get edited and the trash remains. Some might be here to gather new members, as much as they can it would seem. On occasion care less how that's accomplished. Granted , that doesn't occur all that often, but it does.
Can't speak for them all because the many that hang tight to morality, ethics and take the time to do the right thing are the people who refuse to have it any other way. Too much strength in that to be dark sided in any case or any cause. I have to say MOST are this way and why I put up with the occasional train wreck.

It'll pass AK...it'll pass. Comes and goes, -quickly for the most part.

For at least 18 hours per day, the feed runs two motors that pulling about 3 amps a piece, and a PLC that controls relays. Probably 7 amps, absolute max. More than likely the ground is indeed what caused it.
