Guess one should work out the difference in max flow rates between the two filters..the significance of anyway, before pulling the trigger.

Also Napa (Napa Gold oil filters) still uses WIX for just their oil filters...Donaldson for everything else now since the partnership..last year sometime.
I have one in my cart.... I'll go get a link.

EDIT: Here's the link https://amzn.to/3WaJ6m4

I'm also wondering if that first Wix that I posted is a better choice due to matching the flow rate of the 51372/FL820S.

We have read ad nauseum, how a bit more flow helps these engines. And it seems plain that it's borderline, oem, for 2V's & at least early 3V's, as I hear it. From plumbing studies we add feet of run and use TWO feet when a right angle is introduced. Go to my garden hose with 40 psi and full bore with 3/4" hose it does 10 gpm. That is thin water and it shoots out there. Imagine pushing hot oil that thin, but still more viscous, through adaptors, one of which said, 1/2" NPT ports... Not 3/4". You are comparing 0.196 sq in with 0.442 sq in cross section. Restriction? And since we want a filter to FILTER, how much bypasses when we hit 20psi at maybe 2500 rpm on the way to 4500 on a ramp or a long grade and run at 40 psi, stirring up any particulate?!?

So you select for a large filter w large ports or you run a pair to split the flow to halve the pressure each filter sees, which let's their bypasses stay shut up to maybe 4000 rpm. Meanwhile, lower pressure forces fewer borderline small particulate through the media.

Remember the lil backyard rockets that took a few ounces of water and you pumped w air? This is rocket science 101. V basic schtuff. Want more flow? Don't restrict whatcha got.

TWO filters 1/2" ports cross sectional flow area is under 0.4 sq in... Less than ONE 3/4" filter at 0.44 sq in. (AND I'm ignoring restriction from greater laminar flow reduction due to more surface area the oil rubs on enroute w tiny 1/2" dia hoses.)

I have a common 5/8" water service. A 1/2" hose would reduce my flow. Conventional wisdom says, a 5/8" hose maximizes flow. Almost true. 3/4" is a tad better, despite the 5/8" service connector being the main gating factor. Go big.

That's a big filter, I didn't catch that the first time...Excellent find white. Bills going to saturated his phone in drool snot when he sees that.

That's it, I'm parting out the 98 , -

Anyway , like how the factory set up comes off the top of the frame rail vs what I'm seeing after market. Horizontal set up. What I like about it is that it doesn't dip down as low into the fender-well. I haven't seen a horizontal aftermarket kit yet....not sure they exist. Regardless, that wouldn't stop me from running one.

A snippet from the NAPA;
The only reason I marked it as 3 stars verses 5, is that the website indicated that it would fit my 02Ram2500. It did not. Upon installation, it was discovered that 02Ram2500 has an oil filter thread of 1”-16. This item is 3/4”-16. Otherwise it would be installed

ONE AND A SIXTEENTH INCH.
That's in a 250/2500. But this should be a loud hint toward what is desirable when push and shove, meet. That is flow and that is almost anything above a 2000-2500 cruise. IOW, pedal 3/4 down. I run eco but that still happens merging onto the freeway. When you stir it up up is when you want/need that extra full filter flow... IMO.

Regardless, but yeah.... unbelievable.

I'll have to rub a clean spot in mine...make sure it's not made of gold.
